Winterlong

It's one of my favourites actually. Don't think it's much appreciated. How many stars would you give it?

sweter33 05-26-2007 07:10 AM

it's a nice song. from among all those billy acoustics (sparrow, blank, vanilla, to love you, winterlong) i like it the most i think. it's catchy in its own way

Starchildren 05-26-2007 07:29 AM

best billy acoustic is still "Here I Am". hands down. winterlong doesn't even touch it.

sweter33 05-26-2007 07:46 AM

shit, right, I forgot about all those beautiful machina acoustic demos.
but in that case, 'laugh' outshines 'here i am' easily

//edit: I forgot about yet one more cutie: "Freedom Ain't What it Used to Be". That's my winner!

New Art Rioter 05-26-2007 07:56 AM

Laugh beats all other acoustic demos in my eyes. So simple yet so effective and beautiful, but noone ever mentions it.

i was just driving around yesterday and started singing Winterlong to myself and it really hit me all the sudden that i really love this song and dont listen to it as much as i should.
there is something about raw demo-sounding acoustic billy songs..
they really are some of my favourites, and really capture a chunk of that pumpkins essence.
stumbeleine, sparrow, winterlong, all of the machina acoustic demos. wow, machina demos are great :)

bah, you say that cause of all the minor chords. too many minor key BC songs. that's why it isn't as fresh as "Here I Am".

"laugh" is really cookie-cutter BC.

I'll agree with that. That and W.P. (but the band does kick in at the end)

ToEachesOwn 05-26-2007 12:03 PM

I think Winterlong is in my top 10 least favorite Billy sung SP songs. I really can't even come up with a reason. In my opinion, it's just flat out bad.

ToEachesOwn 05-26-2007 12:06 PM

You're saying that Laugh and Here I Am are better than songs like Jupiter's Lamet, Medellia Of The Grey Skies, or Stumbleine?

dudehitscar 05-26-2007 12:46 PM

Here I am is a fucking great song.

Winterlong is a 4 star song to me but that was the recorded version. I love the bass on that song.

exactlythesame 05-26-2007 12:48 PM

Probably one of the greatest Pumpkins songs in my eyes. Five stars.

JRiordan 05-27-2007 03:08 AM

Love it

Laugh is one of my very most favorite songs that Billy's written. Love it.

that's bullshit, Laugh and Here I Am are both mentioned regularly. Drain is the one that's only ever mentioned by me.

tcm 05-27-2007 03:22 AM

Winterlong is alright.

tcm 05-27-2007 03:23 AM

pretty surprised by the results, though.
