![]() listening to this for the first time  |
oh you're into Boris?
|
you could say so
|
|
i need to get back on the "boris train" so to speak
but before that, I should probably find my fuckin' headphones :stan: |
my headphones just died as well.
but for boris i would recommend rainbow. that's what made me into a superfan, alongside akuma no uta. others you should check out are heavy rocks, pink, flood, feedbacker, praparat, smile, etc. i could go on forever. |
:smoke:

vomitself, nuff said
|
giving Rainbow another listen now
in a way, it's the album I thought Pink was going to be - or at least more like it. Certainly more cohesive than Pink came off on the first listen, but I gotta give that one some more spins as well cos I did like quite a bit of it |
& yeah those lead tonez on Rainbow are nasty in the best way :stan:
|
yeah. the dude's name is michio kurihara. boris recorded the songs and sent them to him. then he laid the leads on top. the point of the album was to showcase his playing.

your welcome
|
prob gonna check out Heavy ORANGE Rocks after this one
|
oh man that album is crammed full of awesome riffs. just riff on top of riff on top of riff.
btw i listened to some songs off head on the door that were amazing. especially a night like this. i downloaded the album so i will check it out later today. |
:2thumbsup
s'a good one for sure |
also last night stoned i listened to a forest and goddamn my mind imploded. will have to check those early albums out again.
|
well, A Forest is great, intoxicated or otherwise
17 Seconds is hit & miss. The definitive "transitional album" |
wow yeah head on the door is great. in particular push.
|
![]() they played that one live both times I saw 'em |
oh nice. when did you see them? and how was it?
|
2013 at Austin City Limits (it rained, of course, lol)
& 2016 in New Orleans both were great & they play for-fucking-ever you never know what the hell they're gonna pull out, basically their entire career is fair game. Definitely not the type of band to just "stick to the hits" though at the same time they're not ones to disappoint a crowd, either |
cool man. i'd love to see the cure in the rain. sounds gloomy!
|
did boris cover the cure or somethign
|
I wish!
|
girlfriend got me 3 random Boris albums last night (along with some other sweet, sweet things) unexpectedly, since she knew i'd been listening to Akuma & shit fairly regularly
Heavy Rocks 2011, Smile & Dear pr excited to listen :stan: |
wow your gf is the best!
heavy rocks 2011 has some uber-senescent tunes. in particular: check out RIOT SUGAR and AILERON. Smile is classic Boris. It's all over the place. And Dear is like an amalgamantation of all their styles, with emphasis on DOOM and DRONE. |
Smile was actually the first one I was gonna listen to - I actually don't think i've heard any post-2010 Boris save for Noise, but they certainly all look good
|
good idea. smile is one of their most accessible albums. really poppy.
is it the japan or the southern lord version? the former has a depressed heart on the cover. |
southern lord
