What should I cook for dinner?

I'm hungry and in the mood to cook. What should I make? (I can always give the leftovers to my boyfriend and/or coworkers, as they will eat free food regardless of type)

stephanie says 06-05-2008 09:47 PM

chicken flautas and rice!

murgle 06-05-2008 09:48 PM

I've never made flautas. I know kind of how they go, but not sure. Any recipes?

stephanie says 06-05-2008 09:51 PM

lol, no. i always have the restaurant make it for me :(

murgle 06-05-2008 09:53 PM

aw. Well, I could just go to the Ojedas down the street and say, "Hey, Stephanie said I need chicken flautas with rice! :)"

grilled teriyaki tofu with brown rice and steamed broccoli

stephanie says 06-05-2008 09:56 PM

which one? on maple?

murgle 06-05-2008 09:58 PM

nah I'm still up here in Lewisville (moving back to Dallas in October. YAY!). There's one on Business 121.

Oddly, I've never eaten at the one that's 1/2 a mile from where I live... I only ever went there when I first moved here and desperately needed a job. They weren't hiring. Sad.

yeah chicken instead. i have an awesome cast iron grill pan that i use to do teriyaki chicken but it's not so awesome to clean.

noyen 06-05-2008 10:05 PM

how about lamb? baby lamb. juicy tender gamey bloodfestival

noyen 06-05-2008 10:06 PM

i love cast iron though. i have two pans i've had for like 10 years. they get easier and easier to clean though. get that nice buildup of black cock grease and those things do amazing things to meat.

murgle 06-05-2008 10:09 PM

I got a really nice cast iron skillet for christmas. I've seasoned it, but I've not actually COOKED anything in it yet. Maybe it's time to break it in.

what kind of gravy do you use when making country fried steak? the white-sawmill gravy, or the brown? the cracker barrell has really good country fried steak. i dip it in ketchup. mmmm

murgle 06-05-2008 10:27 PM

I make the cream gravy. Sawmill gravy usually has sausage bits still in it, right? I don't do that. I use bacon drippings to start my gravy.

I've never had Cracer Barrell's chicken fried steak because I have vowed to never go there again. I've been a handfull of times, and each time I was treated like shit and my food was cold. It was so bad last time, I almost started crying by the time I found the manager to complain. Ugh.

I made great chicken fried steak when my granddaddy still had his cattle ranch. SUPER fresh chicken fried steak!

vanilla 06-05-2008 10:52 PM

the white gravy at the cracker barrell doesn't have sausage in it.

vanilla 06-06-2008 01:28 AM

so what did you end up cooking/eating? i need to be updated!

This is worse than abortion stew

murgle 06-06-2008 01:49 AM

I wound up making scalloped potatoes, broccoli, and chicken breast (with a little colby-jack cheese on top). It was good and only took about 45 minutes (potatoes take time!)

Sarcastic Smile 06-06-2008 02:47 AM

spam is coming back into style. true story. im sure you can make various dishes with that.. is it like play dough, can you mold it? I have never had it before

murgle 06-06-2008 03:00 AM

I saw that in the store! It's disgusting. They have fucking SLICED SPAM for use as lunchmeat and crap. Ew ew ew. That's gross. I've eaten spam once, and never again.
