Saw this on another forum...
If I still lived in New York, I would've had this album last week as I had an indie music shop connect who sold me albums early. |
i ordered the special vinyl w/ that zine thing they put together & i am hyped
|
|
I kinda wish they made the CD with that foiled artwork. I would've bought it. Personally, not a vinyl guy. Tried the format and just didn't like it some of the things associated with the format.
|
i'm not necessarily the biggest "vinyl die-hard" on the planet, but if i'm investing in a physical copy of an album these days you better believe i'm going big

how dare you!! |
kinda figured anyone who liked that track got off the train when Deftones shed all of their nu-metal associations, tbh
|
Album fucking rips even in shitty 192kbps format, that's how rich the tones are
|
Came across 2 different files claiming to be 320 and they were BS upconverts.

Also You is way way over. Get a new identity. Go watch Cobra Kai or something, you can be Johnny Lawrence now |
no, a hard no to all of that
but anyway, new album's fucking great - i didn't know what to expect, if it was going to be a hard return to the early era of the band when they were initially working with Terry Date, but it might be the most dreamy & atmospheric they've gotten yet (without ever being boring) track 2 actually had me going on that fuckin' groove they have going on those verses on top of that i think Frank & Sergio get to shine more on this album than any other so far, Sergio even got some stand-out melodic basslines happening on some of these tracks but anyway, that's all after just one listen, i can "dig in" more to the thing after a few more! |
i'd expect no less, veggie man...
|
that's not what I said & it'll never hold up in a court of law
|
i listened to this and to the new sufjan stevens this morning and felt like in their respective careers, sufjan did better with this one than deftones. still enjoyed the 'tones, and will listen more so i get a better feel for it
the quarantine has been good for new music overall, furry corgan aside. killers, bright eyes, deftones, sufjan all with new stuff in the last few weeks, who else is putting out new music? |

now i'm no expert on this, but might i suggest you work on your sales technique? |
i can't believe anyone who was a fan of the 'tones wouldn't love this almost immediately - i came into this not sure if we were just going to get a better-produced Gore or what but quite frankly it's already making a pretty hard bargain for my top 3 from the group
& i know it's highly subjective with them especially since some people don't even like fuckin' Koi No Yokan but damn, how could you say no to this particular set of dreams, screams & grooves? |
Dude, this is so fucking good.

i don't know where i was coming from in the morning -- i just listened to both in the night time and loving the deftones one. this thing rules |
stephen carpenter is really bringing it this album. do we think that means he was smoking more weed or less weed than he typically does?
|
probably less
the time i met him around Gore era he was high as fuck & obsessed w/ talking about Oprah |
it's cool.
do they still play through iPads instead of pedals |
Better than White Pony
|
^ bold, but not really wrong!
