good lord it's amazing how much a band'll change in like 2 years

they sound like Tool meets Metallica there (if the back cover wasn't already at least half a giveaway to that, lol)

MplsTaper 12-18-2018 05:24 PM

It's a fan made bootleg, I believe the band is only responsible for the front cover. Haven't listened to it in a long time but I was pretty into it when I discovered it in the late 90s. Some good tracks on there for what it is (a rough demo recorded in a garage).

Yes, Like Linus used to be one of my Napster jams back in the day.

have you guys seen this one? from 1996, they are basically kids at this point. so awesome how much they developed

MplsTaper 12-19-2018 11:20 AM

That's really cool, thanks for posting it wHATcOLOR. The quality on this isn't as good but some friends were in attendance and the time Deftones played a free show in a McDonald's parking lot still occasionally comes up in conversation. September 1996

MplsTaper 12-19-2018 11:28 AM

An older taper buddy managed to record all of their first stops in town. Just pulled these from his tripod.com (lol) "trading page". I'm sure they don't sound all that great but I've still hoped he would some day transfer the DATs, Minidiscs or whatever the hell he recorded them onto.

Saturday Night Wrist had great stuff and I'm sad Ero's never saw the light of day. The songs that leaked from those sessions were sounding great.

The Cure will be joined at Pasadena Daydream Festival by other bands they personally picked. That means Pixies, Deftones, Mogwai, the Joy Formidable, and L.A.’s own Chelsea Wolfe, among others. The venue, Brookside at the Rose Bowl, is the same space that has hosted Arroyo Seco Weekend for the last two years.

Rumors of the event had started swirling earlier this month, when Robert Smith let a bit of the story slip to Brooklyn Vegan. “We’ll be announcing another one later this month, which will be a really special one, actually, because we’re curating it,” he told the music blog. “So it’s going to be on the West Coast. There’s going to be about ten other acts, all hand-picked. I just wanted to do something a bit like Hyde Park. Something a bit celebratory.”

The Hyde Park performance in question took place last summer, honoring the band’s 40th anniversary. The 29-song set spanned the band’s career and touched on many of their best-known hits. That differs from other the other buzzed-about shows the Cure has planned for 2019, a series of four concerts in Sydney where they will play the album Disintegration in its entirety.

Tickets for Pasadena Daydream go on sale at noon on May 17. Passes cost $149 for general admission or $299 for VIP.
Heck of a show.

MyKeyZ 07-19-2019 11:16 AM

This should've been on White Pony, not just as a bonus track to certain editions...

well fuck, if you like that track definitely give the full self-titled a shot (+ b-side "Lovers," if you're so inclined )

Mals Marola 07-19-2019 09:25 PM

Koi No Yok is still prob my favorite thing they've ever done

Diamond Eyes is consistent and a great introduction but man Koi No just kills it w/ that atmosphere, those songs

those tones

Eulogy 07-20-2019 09:00 AM

I think I agree with that. Everything works so well. What happened to you is a stunner of a closer too.

Shallowed 07-20-2019 11:39 AM

I should get into Deftones. I've listened to most of their albums once each.

I wanna hold a Deftones listening party with a bunch of Deftones fans and get high with them and get really into the music with them.

Eulogy 07-20-2019 03:44 PM

Pot for around the fur and cocaine for white pony is what I’ve read works best.

But for real you should. They’re very good.
