Spinoff: US places you want to go to

Pittsburgh, I once got to drive through but didn't stop.

Philadelphia, I've done a couple things there but they were incidental to being in Philly and I've never really done things like South Street, Reading Terminal Market, cheese steaks, etc.

Wisconsin, the Dells area to ride roller coasters but also to Madison to eat at a few places I have on my list

New Orleans

San Antonio and Austin

Anywhere in the Pacific Northwest

San Fransisco or really anywhere in California north of L.A.

Central/Northern New York State but I'm doing a roller coaster and food trip this Spring I already have planned so I will be able to do that one soon.

Andy / 01-10-2009 03:31 PM

Are you wanting to go to the Dells to simply cross shit off a list? Because I wouldn't say the coasters there (that I've been on anyway) are worth the effort to travel for.

ravenguy2000 01-10-2009 03:34 PM

Hades and Avalanche would be the two that are really world-class rides, the rest would mostly just be for fun and for the experience.

I have friends who fly to Japan to ride pretty mediocre coasters, Wisconsin isn't that far.

publius clodius 01-10-2009 03:42 PM

southwestern usa looks pretty cool in easy rider

I've been on the second one and even seeing pictures don't really remember it other than the smaller train.

Hades looks cool though, especially the tunnel areas.

Yeah man, that small train still looks daffy. And Hades is pretty good they say.

Really any coaster I haven't ridden is worth traveling to to some degree, it's just that much more compelling when there's a lot bunched together I haven't ridden and Wisconsin is one of those places left for me. Or if there are other things I'm interested in in the area.

Sounds good. Do you want to go to Fiesta Texas in San Antonio RG?

JokeyLoki 01-10-2009 04:07 PM

San Antonio
New Orleans
Seattle
Washington, DC
Panama, FL
Memphis (I'm tempted to drive there some weekend just to have BBQ with my sis, holy crap good)

I guess if I had time.

And oh yeah, Memphis. I forgot about there. I almost feel bad for never going when I lived in KY but that's still like 7 hours, really far.

Anyway I'd eat a lot of pork and do cocaine with Toby and avoid talking about black people.

I didn't know if it was why you wanted to go, near as i can tell there aren't many world class coasters at fiesta texas. And sea world, fuggedabout it.

If there was time I would probably do SFFT in half a day just to get the credits. Superman looks good for what it is but it's not really my preferred thing.

Sea World has a pretty cool Morgan coaster called Steel Eel that would be fun and I'd probably stick around to watch at least one show. Do they have sea lions doing funny human things like wearing hats and playing trumpets? I'd go see that one.

And then go get some cheap beer and tex-mex, the white trashier the better.

And then rent a car and go out to No Country For Old Men-sville and pretend like I was in a movie.

Trotskilicious 01-10-2009 04:30 PM

yeah No Country For Old Men-sville is about six hours west of here bruddah

and yeah we can pound some lone star and hit up the jalisco

ravenguy2000 01-10-2009 04:31 PM

6 hours would be worth it, it was mesemerizing the one time i went through there but it was on a bus with a bunch of socially retarded band nerds

ravenguy2000 01-10-2009 04:36 PM

can i go to an austin city limits taping

did you guys know that's not even really outside

Nashville - just for the sake of seeing where I was born
Chicago - when do I not want to be there?
NYC - only been once and it was on a band trip
Cali
Portland and or Seattle
Asheville
Boston

there's more but this could get long

Banana 01-10-2009 05:39 PM

Alaska
California
Texas
Hawaii
Nevada
Somewhere in the heart of the deep south
Somewhere out in the middle of the plains out west.

sppunk 01-10-2009 06:18 PM

Boise and Bismark, just to cross all the states off the list.

barden 01-10-2009 08:44 PM

In all honesty? And not trying to be a wise-ass FUCK AMERICA vibe again, but…
There is no pat of America that holds any specific allure to me. I have no interest in seeing anything specific there, at all.

(well, maybe your outlying areas like Alaska or something, but I don’t know if that counts).

sppunk 01-10-2009 09:50 PM

Yeah, dude. America doesn't have anything interesting - no big cities, no rain forests, no mountains, no beaches, no deserts, no prairies.

barden 01-10-2009 09:54 PM

nah, it's not that, it's just that it all seems lumped into this... I dunno.
I just feel like I'd be denying myself something if i had limited opportunity to travel and ended up in America.

neopryn 01-10-2009 10:16 PM

ravenguy if you go to Pittsburgh you should go to Kennywood. The coasters are mostly really old and probably slow by today's standards but they're still amazing to me.
