Can we have a perfume / cologne thread?
What is everyone wearing?
I want to know your secrets. Tell me about your history of scent. |
About 11 months ago I bought a bottle of Chanel Antaeus on my birthday and it propelled an addiction into the history of fragrance.
I've since accumulated about a dozen bottles of various moods. |
I love sweet perfumes and own a ton of cheap ones. Cotton candy, vanilla, cherry, stuff like that. Most of them are pink and brandless. They still smell really good, though.
|
tell me all the makes and models
|
do you have pink sugar?
do you have angel? |
there's nothing wrong with "cheap perfume"
|
i've been blasting this the past few days https://www.fragrantica.com/perfume/...s-900-116.html
it really grows with the summer heat! the rose note is really nuts in high temps. I bought it during the fall thinking it was for that. usually in the summer i go with straight Guerlain Vetiver but it fades so fast or my nose just ignores it. this rose note is really long lasting |
I do have Pink Sugar, actually. I even have the sparkly mists but I exhibit some restraint and don't use it much. I favor summery fragrances and rarely deviate seasonally, but in fall I will get fragrances with apple and brown sugar notes. And I double down with complimentary scented lotions and body butters. I like to smell like a cupcake shop with smooth skin.

i do like ten sprays on bare skin each morning of whatever my mood is
|
smells like brittney and christina + rotten fruit |
I've never seen (or noticed?) Angel, but now that it's on my radar I'll try it. Reading the description it seems like something I would like, depending on how strong the floral notes are. I'm all about some subtle blossom-y goodness but if it gets too much like a straight bouquet I'll get a headache.
|
its not very floral. smells more like rotting fruit. it's amazing.
|
i wear both the guys and girls versions
(gender distinctions of perfume didn't exist until like 1960 - total marketing scam) guys' is like coffee and rotten bananas - girls' is more like rotten bananas and cotton candy |
the girls version is much more iconic imo
the guys version just got discontinued anyway |
if you like pink sugar you deserve to upgrade to angel. you'll love yourself for it. you can get bottles for like $50.
|
I like the sound of both, for sure. I can't stand the overly musty kind of cologne that's so popular.
|
ama perfume lol
|
angel is a fougere (tends to smell like food)
i tend to dislike florals too (personally - but i like smelling them) i like chypres that are deep and heavy in the oak moss territory and smell like wet forest floors |

Every dude I know just douses themselves in Axe, Old Spice, or crappy aftershave. You guys are a cut above.
|
|

|
i had a bottle of carolina herrera cologne that my parents got me when i was 19, and it lasted me over a decade because i hardly wore it. when i went to replace it and saw the price i said forget it and got something from target instead

In high school I had a bottle of KISS (the band) cologne that everyone swore they loved but it's gotta be a cheap dupe of something better. |
guys gotta get past the aquatic phase that infiltrated the late 90s
|
aquatic cologne from the 90s is an infiltration of that porn-becoming-mainstream ideology of like naked shaved twinks smelling clean and smooth-bodied.
On the other hand you have pubes and chest hair and oil and forest floors. Maximalism. |
