In that version of Cherub Rock, during the solo, Billy does some really simple thing when he hits the highest note that sounds awesome. I can't see what he's doing, is he just bending the B string away from the E string? I know I have heard him do it before on other songs.

Whatever it is, it sounds like shit I would recommend against emulating it. Could be pinch harmonics, or what you suggested, or a combination of both.

Um, imo he basically fucks up the note and gets no clarity / a scratchiness to it, and then overbends it cause he's pissed at fucking it up.
