I once traveled in the same subway carriage as that cousin character they added to The Brady Bunch when the ratings dropped. Not on the same occasion, mind you.

The assigned reading I have for one of my classes tomorrow is reminding me of my love-hate relationship with sociology.
On the one hand, I think a lot of the research done in it is important and fascinating, and that the study of social phenomenon is worthwhile. On the other hand, there's a certain style of writing and lexicon that it popular in sociology that serves only to make pretty simple claims sound more profound and obscure than they are. Currently pushing my head through a paper that's pretty much pages and pages of verbiage and academic buzzwords just to say "racism often happens through certain races being excluded from or having their behaviour regulated in certain spaces." Honestly. I've summed up the entire paper so far in one sentence, and I don't exactly have a reputation for being concise myself. More talented people could probably distill it in three words. And yet I have nineteen more pages to read of this. |
ugh, i hate that.
just write what you have to say. no nonsense, get to the point. some students think it's a talent to spread content over a lot of pages. "i'm really good at writing papers." |
the Netflix mini-series on Ted Bundy was well done
I know there are some of you on here with a grave fascination with serial killers |
hah! grave fascination.
but i will be checking that out if i have time. |
i will watch
i like bundy as a study, sort of, but only because he got his in the end. when you hear him talk - which i have actually not done much of compared to some other killers - you can tell his entire life was about killing, and it's pretty weird even among killers. most of them had some kind of weird attachment to it, like dahmer who wanted someone to be his perfect mate or whatever. bundy just hated pretty women and loved killing them. he was so used to using his charm to get his way and he couldn't believe he lost his trial or that he would really be executed. his interviews right before he got executed about the evils of pornography are so ridiculous. yes i'm sure that weird bondage porn mag you had made you kill 30 women or whatever, ted |

Are you guys doing anything to prevent frozen pipes or another similar calamity?
Luckily our furnace is pretty new and has been able to keep up. Not looking forward to the gas bill. (To top it all off I was going to drive to work yesterday but my car wouldn’t start even with a jump. Still not sure what the problem is) |

he seemed very afraid of dying all the way up to the end which is interesting and maybe a bit satisfying I couldn't believe that they let him escape and go on to kill several more women |
just finished moving and I owe room damages at my last residence that exceed my deposit by $500 because of my very dumb drunken negligence
