View Full Version : Good songs by bands you don't like.
Elijah Moon 11-03-2014, 02:37 PM Saying in another thread that I liked Coldplay's 'Trouble' I thought I'd make a thread featuring songs you really like by bands who you really don't like. This song is just relevant to me at the moment:

edit - I have been back and forth with Oasis. I quite liked them for a while, and then for ages I'd always say, "Their first two albums were good..." but recently I tried listening to the "...Morning Glory" album and pretty much hated its obviousness, banal meaningless lyrics, and Liam's vocals. To be honest, I do think there are some good songs on their b-side album, this being one of them. I think I actually prefer Noel as a vocalist. I can't say I'm a fan or that I even like them, though.
Elijah Moon 11-03-2014, 02:40 PM Also, I included this song in the Halloween thread, but it fits this thread too:

The exploding boy 11-03-2014, 03:08 PM I really dont like Oasis either but i can take What's the story morning glory. I kinda like that one.
The exploding boy 11-03-2014, 03:09 PM And like The Cult is pretty horrible but She Sells Sanctuary is a great song even if it would be a lot better without that lame Jim Morrison wannabe Ian astbury singing it.
The exploding boy 11-03-2014, 03:12 PM I mentioned in another thread, I absolutely cant stand Modest Mouse but i think Dashboard is a good song.
The exploding boy 11-03-2014, 04:53 PM Thats the thing that gets me a little. I mentioned in another thread how my gf hates SP so much its like i have to apologize about ever liking them or soemthing. BUT she was a sorta into Oasis in the 90s and apparently that's alright. Like...na-uh. No. I'm not asking you to apologize for liking Oasis but how is SP so much worse you know?
Elphenor 11-03-2014, 04:55 PM Do we really need another thread full of shit bands?
The exploding boy 11-03-2014, 05:04 PM Well its trying to find the positive in the negative i suppose
Mals Marola 11-03-2014, 05:24 PM Do we really need another thread full of shit bands?
oasis, blink, and modest mouse, despite what some might tell you, are actually not shit bands! so, no, i guess the answer from the universe is a firm no
i guess these kind of count, i don't really "dislike" kp or jm but their discogs haven't exactly satisfied me in a notable way or anything so far. i'll fuck w these, all day long though

Trotskilicious 11-03-2014, 08:34 PM how is modest mouse in the same breath as blink 182 and oasis, mals
don't do that
Trotskilicious 11-03-2014, 08:36 PM i love how common shows up at the end of the homecoming video like for no reason
The exploding boy 11-03-2014, 08:41 PM Im the one who said MM.
I mean i don't throw them in the same boat as Blink 182 obviously, i realise there is artistic value in what they do, unlike Blink 182, but i just really don't like them. I would probably sooner listen to say... coldplay (though ideally id rather not have to choose) and even oasis though in terms of grating vocals liam gallagher and Isaac brock are probably about equal in my mind.

Elijah Moon 11-05-2014, 10:06 AM "I don't need anyone."
This band said they were influenced by the Pumpkins. I first heard this song on the radio in the middle of the night when I couldn't sleep. I really liked it for a long time. Shame their album was shit.
