Big signs posted at Davenport saying no moshing/audio/video. Monte said he had issues getting him camera in.

per http://taperssection.com/index.php/topic,107307.15.html, if you can get in contact with the tour manager, they will let you tape. Same deal as the fall tour.

The security people were well notified that we were allowed to tape. Monte had everything cleared the day before Davenport's show. Then boom, once in line, security looked like deers in headlights. Some were allowed to bring camera's. Others weren't. But once they were allowed in...they weren't allowed to film. Real Gay. This show was awesome and I'd love to relive it.

Yeah, I was with Monte on Thursday in Davenport when he got clearance for the camera / taping thing. Then once we were inside the Adler on Friday, Monte comes up to me and says they wouldn't allow him inside the venue with his camcorder (yet he is holding one). He said the camcorder he was holding belonged to a guy seated in front of him and was going to allow Monte to record the show (it was an HD camcorder). Monte said that once he was inside the venue, they had changed the policy, but he couldn't go back to his car to get his own camcorder because they would not allow re-admittance to the show. Then around 10 minutes later, Monte came back over to me and says they AREN'T going to allow him to tape the show. I was just like, why the hell did they even let that guy in the door with his camcorder then?? It was a friggin' mess.

You guys have my sympathies, but this is nothing new. The band has a history of doing a really bad job at informing the venues. That's why I always stealth SP shows. With the "no stands" policy, it doesn't make a difference anyway.

If you want to be on the safe side, contact the venue well in advance and get the name of someone who's in charge at the night of the show. It almost alyway helps if you can tell the idiots at the door who to call. And it's an even bigger plus if you *know* the name of their boss.

Sadly he is not. He is on Michael Franti tour. Hopefully he'll be back for the 20th anniversary run.

I suggest listening to Sebastian's advice above. Also, ask for SP's tour manager. He seems pretty nice.

Do you mean have the Japs invented an HD camcorder into a cell phone yet? The answer is no, no they haven't.

Well, at least there are some decent video recorders that can be built into phones now, even if they're not HD. That would be a great stealth way to get video. What venue would even think of turning away people with cell phones?
