I think Billy just trashed Monte. Fans going through their trash. They want some fans to go away. LOL

I wonder what website Billy could have been talking about where its a bunch of people hating everything they do.......cough, cough.

This was a fantastic listen, though I missed the first 50 minutes. I never knew the Jersey Shore story, about the kid killing the other kid, then saying the Pumpkins influenced him. Im gonna have to check out that song.

He knows people hate Set the Controls, but he plays it as a tribute to a band that was a huge influence on them. I can get behind that sentiment.

I hope someone recorded this so I can hear the first half that I missed. Although according to one of the commercials during the segment, they said you can go onto Matt Pinfields site and listen to old interviews and shows, so those that missed it can probably hear it that way soon.

Just some random info I can remember.

Billy talked about how he wished fans that dont embrace who they are now and only want to live in the past would just go away and find some other band to follow.

He talked about how misunderstood the Machina album was, coming out in the day of Limp Bizkit and Korn. He said that he felt that album alienated people more than Adore.

There was the Jersey Shore story which I mentioned in a previous post.

Matt told Billy his cover of Landslide was his favorite version of that song, and Billy told an interesting story about the recording of that song. It was recorded at the BBC studios I believe he said, and he had just learned to play the song that day. He was being rushed by the studio, so he only had time to do one guitar take, and two vocal dubs. He left the studio, not even knowing how the song sounded.

The record label came to him when they were prepping Pisces Iscariot, and told him they wanted to make it the first single. He was like...what?.

That all I can think of right now.

Alright thanks for playing set the controls when you know alot of people don't like it.
And I can understand they want to play new material and they want people to like it but he just needs to embrace the fact that to alot of people they ARE those older songs and always will be.

I agree that the bands past is definately closer to the hearts of alot of their fans than the prospect of their future, but it is unfair to them to not acknowledge who they are now and what they're doing. I personally look forward to whatever this band will put out in the days to come, even if it doesnt resonate with me like the songs of the past. Although I have to say, from what ive heard of the new material, its already resonating.

That's Bullshit statement. Matt Pinfield was one of the only good things on MTV in the 90's. Alternative Nation, sorry, I meant 120 Minutes, on Sunday nights was something I waited and stayed up to watch. He's a good host/vj because he is knowledgeable knowledgeable, not only about bands and music, but the history of it all too!

I really enjoy Set the Controls....but I am also a Pink Floyd fan...so for me, it's merge of two of my favorite bands. It may sounds like a bunch of noise to some people, but to fans of both bands...and speaking entirely for myself, I look forward to hearing it again in person and in concert!

I agree. I like Matt alot. I used to watch 120 minutes every Sunday night. He's one of the most knowledgable guys around as far as music goes. It would be hard to stump him with a question.

Just for the record, I diddnt mean to type I like how he knows, I just meant to say, he knows people dont like set the controls. I like Floyd alot myself, and have no problem with that cover, aside from maybe it goes on a bit too long.
