I don't think that SP plans to take down the taping policy, but i would currently assume such a recording would be SBD quailty

that's cute how you spelled it right the first time, then wrong the second time. you're cute monte.

oh, and this is interesting news. I might pay that for a good enough show. or just download it when it shows up as a torrent.

They should have done this a long time ago however if you are going to do it then do it right offer it 320kbps mp3s and also have a lossless version available.

yeah, has been doing for a few years now.

If they're willing to go to 256 kbps, why not 320?

14.95 is a little expensive for no physical product.

It's better than nothing though.

But not better than a good audience recording.

AAC though, not MP3.

AAC is a little better, but then people would bitch about openness

Also, I'm holding out for the FLAC Deluxe version of all the shows.

I will pay $15 for lossless, I will not pay that for mp3s.

This concept started with LivePhish.com in January 2003.

If you check LiveMetallica.com, you'll see that FLAC shows are $12.95. So, there is hope that SP shows will also be available in FLAC.

I will not buy MP3s.

metallica does something like this too, where you can buy the show you attended afterwards. 14.99 plus tax is a little pricey though. maybe there will be a "tour pass" or something where you can get all the shows for a discount lump sum.

Well this is good news...let's hope they offer lossless files too and don't screw this up

256kbps is fine for MP3s...320kbps gets to be a waste of space

right....you do know lossless files are bigger than 320kbps mp3's?

i was wanting SP to do this ages ago when i first walked into a local record store and saw 30+ official 2 CD pack bootlegs of pearl jam. back then if SP did it i would've bought the entire set just like that.

seems a bit too little too late, especially the whole mp3 thing. i also refuse to pay for mp3's, or any lossy compressed music.

offering mp3 only is also a form a "cheap", such as cheap inferior product. unless you were referring to SP and not us, if so i agree.

maybe the flacs will be available too down the line or whatever. perhaps they just mentioned the mp3 format because it's easily recognizable to the general population
