That won't add quality, but the program will do that anyway whether you convert it before or not so just do mp3s and save some trouble.

this used to be a problem and was recommended years ago. now, burning programs can handle just about any audio file format and burn it to cd with no problem at all. only thing is, some file formats take longer than others because of the conversion process that has to take place.

This is not a matter of opinion - WAV files ARE better quality than mp3's. There is no argument here.

WAV - 1,411kbps
SHN and FLAC have a lower bitrate but sound just like WAVs. So the only advantage that SHN and FLAC have is filesize - sound quality is identical.

MP3 - 32 to 320kbps (128-320kbps used for compressing audio)
Lossy. I can't tell a difference at 256 and 320kbps CBR, but some people can I guess. Depends on the person and your ears.

And if that WAV file is a decompressed MP3 then is the WAV file still better quality?

shn's suck cuz they like 25 times bigger than mp3... you cant notice much of a difference in quality either. Quality wise shns sound better but u cant store many on a hard drive unless u got like 250GB
