Arrow Bright Eyes

some weird rap group opened. wtf.

The Faint. This was the first I'd ever heard of them. Interesting. very....dance-y. entertaining I guess.

Bright Eyes was fantastic. Everything from Digital Ash was played except that shitty pinata song. Some song I'd never heard before was played, and it was spectacular. And the first song of the encore was Lover I Don't Have to Love. which was awesome. Something about that fragile little man being backed by as many as nine musicians is just really interesting. But anyway. it was a good show. But I hated the crowd. ugh. I hate crowds at most shows though. Most people just suck. Especially at concerts.

i was driving around with a sivian (occassional netphorian) who was visiting from chicago.
when we left my apartment she was like, "where are we going?"
i told her, "we're going to a birthday party. it's your birthday party. happy birthday, darling. we love you very, very, very, very much."
she looked at me weird until that song came on the CD player at just the right time. we both laughed forever about it.

Letting off the Happiness - 95% of sucks
Fevers and Mirrors - Mostly goods songs
Lifted. . . - Some great songs, song pretty terrible ones
New acoustic - Sucks
New electronic - Sucks even worse

That said, I have tickets for 5/21 in NYC. Not sure if I'll end up going or not. Depends on how the evening is going and what part of town I'm in around 11 pm, or whenever BE would go on.

You will only hear songs from this album. So I would not recommend going.

Have you heard One Foot in Front of the Other yet??

Landlocked Blues is so so so shitty in comparison. I can't listen to it.

how can you not get that

he writes really shallow, emotional lyrics

16 year old girls think his unintelligent lyrics are really deep and thought-provoking

(because they're 16 year old girls)

now, what the fuck. backed by nine musicians. when i got dragged to see bright eyes i thought he'd have a band or something like that and it might be entertaining, but it was just him with an acoustic guitar playing all these songs no one seemed to have an idea what they were. it was the most boring show i have ever seen.

You crazy kids and your silly labels.

Bright Eyes doesn't write poetry or emo, he writes LYRICS. TO SONGS. And compared to most contemporary pop artists his lyrics are pretty neat, reflective and "deeper" than your average.

This doesn't make him emo crap. Nor does it make him a poetic genius.

"Emo" in the derogatory sense is slow punk sung by fashion students with fake black-rimmed glasses because they think that's cool.

There's nothing wrong with singing lyrics that specifically mean something or deal with human emotion. That's what all music is about anyway. Sometimes you asshats get so confused. TGuess, that's what listening to Pitchfork will do to you.

(Not you neopryn, you da man.)

is this the same pitchfork that gave a good review to the last three bright eyes albums that is making everyone hate bright eyes and write him off as bad emo poetry

Yeah, the same.

That wasn't my point though was it?

Don't try and defend pitchfork, man.
