Yeah, this scares me too. I mean condoms are supposed to be whatever % effective, and I was one of the few. Ugh.

I know Depo isn't 100% baby-proof, of course, but there's much less for me to fuck up (get the injection on time? a-ok!)

That's why I liked Depo

It worked well for me: I didn't forget a pill or anything, the side effects (mood swings) were mild and went away a while ago.. ugh.
Oh well

Zach told me to go get the plan b or whatever that pill is called, the day after pill or whatever because he was all freaked out my pills wouldn't work... but I didn't have a chance to, and now I'm all freaked out. blah. I guess I'll find out in a week.

Anyway yeah, I hope your b.c. situation works out okay, and you find the best thing for you.

the major reason the pill is ever ineffective is if people fail to take it properly. chill out, you'll be ok.

Yeah, but I'm used to side effects (especially irregular bleeding, TMI, I'm sure) because of the Depo.
It'd just be one less thing for me to worry about

Also, I might be getting all worked up over nothing-- I might like being on the Pill. I guess I'll find out tomorrow, huh? hah

it's /really/ not that bad (the pill) - consider this - depo is, by word of mouth at least, one of the higher risk forms of bc for various crappy side effects. maybe what you had WAS bad and you didn't know it!

You're not gonna die. I wish I were still on it. It worked well ah well

ammy- they didn't stop giving it. It's a judgement call for the prescribing Doctors- most of the time they'll use it only when (or right after) a woman is breastfeeding (won't affect the milk, and it won't really fuck with anything-- I think. I dont know the specifics on that stuff)... basically- SHORT TERM use is recommended. (under 2 years, or less).

Like the anti-single person bias. My doctor won't give me one because I'm not married (and I never intend on getting married) because she says that IUDs are dangerous for 'promiscuous people'. Note that I've been in a monogamous relationship for 4 years.

Yeah, similar situation here (only not 4 years, close to 2)

yeah, i know, that bias is bent, but the reasons for it make sense, you know how many people would lie about that? and the dangers it imposes? they're just protecting the masses from thier stupidity.

not that i don't agree that it's totally messed up you could always find another doctor and ask.. it's all an opinion thing on thier part. :erm

the board's clock was messed up lastnight! (oh finally, we're at the end of the thread! lol.)

iud is great because...

-the one i have lasts 5 years.
-most effective form of bc out there, (outside of the US it's the most widely used as well), and safest if you have only one partner and stuff (PID is a danger if you have more than one partner)
-reduces/eliminates cramps (after first 6 months *ARG* and depending on the person)
-reduces/eliminates the period altogether ((also depending on the person)after first 6 months.. though my period is unbelievably light already at 3 months, i almost don't need panty liners, tampons are too much, even the light ones)
-the only thing i have to do is check that it's still there once a month. that's it. no worries whatsoever. it's marvulous.
-hardly any side effects (except the first few months of more cramps.. augh they seem to have go away now though)

My partner was sitting next to me in the doctor's office both times she said no! This is still a step up from my old gyno who wouldn't renew my birth control at the time because she decided she was only prescribing it to married women from then on, despite much argumenting on my part.

(why aren't I writing my paper? it's due in an hour and a half )
