has anyone else been hypnotized?

i was hynotized at a show my work had - it was 18 plus but the don't let you do anything "bad" like take your clothes off . Theres a videotape out there somewhere where i did all of the following:

- counted my breasts repeatedly after "forgetting" the number "2". So i confused myself by thinking i had 3 breasts everytime.

- had an orgasm (or thought i was having one rather) everytime the hypnotist sprayed me with an imaginary watergun. this happened about 20 times throughout the course of the show.

- thought i owned a kitten and showed the crowd until the hypnotist put it in the imaginary microwave - whereupon i dissolved into uncontrollable sobs til he clapped his hands and i started laughing hysterically instead.

- thought i was "Dr. Ruth" and answered the audience's sex questions matter of factly including " Dr. Ruth , can you tell me how to go about getting fucked up the ass?"

- thought i was watching a porno when all of a sudden i saw my friend in the starring role: and i started screaming at the imaginary television to turn him off.

Weird. What was it like? Do you remember doing any of that stuff?

I've never been hypnotized, but I have a friend who was once and he says it just felt like the most relaxing nap he'd ever taken.

yeah , i remember it all - its sort of like dreaming where you just go along with everything thats given to you. And i had the best sleep of my life when i went home that night.

strange.. I think it's fake.. Like getting drunk, you pretend to a certain extent. If that makes any sense. Although, you definatley feel really different when you're drunk, but you are not possessed or anything....

well , hypnotism is a voluntary thing - you have to relax a lot and put yourself entirely in the hands of the hypnotist for it to happen. Drunk people are actually tough to hypnotize - they can't concentrate enough to get into that state of hypnosis. You just have to allow yourself to become suggestionable.

I did not consciously have the ability to control what i was doing - eg- he tells you that it gets very hot in the room and you can feel yourself sweating and they have to stop you from trying to take clothing off. The closest thing i can think of is a dreamlike state where you just do what your surroundings dictate.

I hypnotized a friend once. My therapist friend and I were talking about hypnotism and he he basically told me how to do it, so I tried it on my best friend and it worked. It was weird shit. I saw it happen and I saw her come out of it, but whether or not it is actually an illusion within the hypnotee's mind I do not know.

They had a bunch of us, and I wasn't being affected, but I played along. Then he would go from person to person and touch them on the shoulder and tell them to do something.

As soon as he touched me I jumped up and put outt my arms like Frankenstein's monster and yelled in a loud Beavis voice "I'M HYPMOTIZED!!!"

Then I was asked to leave

we had shows in highschool where they did a lot of different stuff - and this one as well (it was 2 hours long) like - people think they're famous , or another popular thing i've seen is where the person hypnotized knows that everyone will die in the room and is frantically trying to convince the hypnotist to get everyone out of the room.

This one was 18 plus so yeah about half the stuff was sexual but you knew what you were getting into - and everything i did was embaressing but you don't feel embaressed about it at the time if that makes sense. Also the hypnotists will tell you to "sleep" if you were to do anything bad like take off your clothes (or in the case of the guy beside me - started to unzip his pants while the hynotist told him he was watching a porno starring a friend.

and you said this was for work? where do you work? i can't imagine anything like that at work here, it'd be kind of hard to take the person seriously/respect them after that.. (strictly in a formal professional environment i mean)..

well the dude that does it is the same dude that goes around to college campuses every year and holds a similar show:P Oh and you generally remember most things that happen to you - at least thats what i was told and i did remember everything.

I did it quite a while ago at a hotel i worked at that was holding the show - it was the sort of work atmosphere that was extramaly un politically incorrect and blue collar - i just got laughed at , after all its not like it was really "me".

i guess you're right but really , i figure if meg ryan can do it, i certainly have no qualms about it. Also you're doing the same thing at the same time along with 11 other people up there doing the same thing so i guess i felt more comfortable with that.
