Post Phase III-Metro Videos

Hey everyone. Today is the day that all the audio packages will go out. Thanks to everyone that responded and I hope that you are happy with your product. I would like to hear some of your reactions.

Now, to start the next and hopefully last phase. Since we recovered most of the money for the tapes through the audio phase, the video phase will just be the cost of transferring, packaging, and whatever DVD (if that is the medium) costs we would incur. I personally don't have the ability to do this kind of transfer so I am leaving this up to you guys. What medium do you want this in? Who do you want to do the transfer? For whatever the community decides, I will give the head person the tapes for the transfer. I have no problems with that at all. I have seen some very technical discussions on the video transfer before on these boards, so get into it, and lets hash this out. I say, give it a week and see what people decide? (This should be interesting)

Enjoy the audio to those people that were nice enough to contribute, and the shows are yours now, do whatever you please with them.

A special big thanks and round of applause should go to Scott, Brian, and Dave for making this possible.

Regards,

Greg

DVD would certainly be the best option. I guess Bill (starlight) would do it if we all ask him http://www.netphoria.org/wwwboard/wink.gif

DVD would be the best option to go with, in my opinion...and it would be a good idea to give the tapes to someone that not only has the ability to do this, but has the time to do it as well...so that we can all see it as quickly as possible http://www.netphoria.org/wwwboard/smile.gif

I agree that starlight should do them, if possible. He could do his standard thing of charging $10 (to pay for the blank media and shipping)... and hopefully both shows could fit on one DVD-R.

Also, it might be cool if someone could transfer the shows to VCD.

Personally, I'd settle for VHS, but I'm sure most people here aren't even considering that an option...

but please burn it to either an official DVD medium, or at least a burn that is HIGHLY compatible with finicky DVD players like my Toshiber http://www.netphoria.org/wwwboard/smile.gif.

Pick me! Pick me!

Oh, and this esbuy.com gold media is very very good for compatability purposes.

BTW, I can easily do a vcd, or someone who gets the dvd can easily do a vcd. Either way

By the time I get a DVD player and a sufficient TV, I'm pretty sure I've lost interest in sweating to get SP shows on DVD.

I got my cds today. The all sound really good. I'm very happy with them. And i'll have to back everyone else up, and say that dvd would be the best route to go for the video.

Re-compression? Boo! DVD all the way. If vcd must be made, do it from the original transfer, the captured AVI.

Yeah, it was a definitely a nice little surprise finding them in my mailbox so soon. It felt like Xmas in August hehe. And I was also very happy with the sound quality. For coming from a VHS transfer, they sounded terrific.

DVD would be the best way to go, as long as someone does them right and in a timely fashion on media that is compatible for everyone.

For those interested, this is the way I transferred the Metro shows from video... Toshiba 4-head Hi-Fi VCR out --> Midiman Flying Calf 20bit A/D converter analog in --> Midiman digital coax out --> Soundblaster Live Platinum digital coax in. Recorded and split up with Cool Edit. Burned with Nero. I figure everyone will have their discs in a few days. I live near Washington D.C. and the mail seems to come and go out of here faster than anywhere I've ever lived. Glad people are pleased with the transfer. Enjoy!

Greg didn't do the transfer. I've done a bunch for he and I in the past, so he lined me up for this one. Greg did do the hardest work however - getting the tapes and putting all this together. So you are right - Greg rules .
