When you work for a journalistic publication, your desire to talk about politics outside of work pretty much gets zapped. I know I haven't felt the need to jump into a lot of these political topics as much as I did before I started working with UNC's paper--it's just fucking overkill. I don't know how people can cover politics for a living.

and Dave: I'm pretty sure she didn't mean that you need to talk about politics to be smart, just that the majority of really thoughtful, intelligent posts here come out of debates, usually political, that Samantha rarely participates in.
