Default Hey mods, here's a suggestion:

Take down any threads pertaining to how to get the new Jimmy album. This will deplete album sales. You know that some people will get this and not buy the album because they've already heard it. Same goes for if and when the BC album gets leaked. Yes, i know that people will find the music elsewhere, but at least you can rest assured that this website wasn't the catalyst of album leakage.

Again, just a suggestion, but you have to think back. Machina leaked what? 3 months before the album release and look at the sales for that one. Same thing happened with MSOTS, and look what happened. I know there's nothing we can do to STOP this, because it's impossible with p2p networking, but every little bit helps.

That was machina's fault.

This isn't an arguement about how much which album sucked and for what reasons. I used the machina and msots examples to illustrate a point. 3 months before machina was released, it was EVERYWHERE on places like napster, etc. I mean EVERYWHERE. Alot of those downloaded albums could have been album sales. Sure, not every one of those people would have bought the album, but a lot of people that would have bought the album didn't simply because they already had it available for free on their computer, or on a burned CD. By the time the album finally did come out, it was 3 months later and they had listened to it thoroughly enough that it didn't justify a purchase to them.

Bands need to start keeping the complete albums completely under wraps, because once you release a full advance album promo nowadays, there goes your album sales. I really think that artists should stick to 4 or 5 song sampler cd's so that at least half the album still remains a mystery, thus justifying a purchase. I think i illustrated my point now.

album leaks has been a part of netphoria since "adore" Mp3s were hosted on the site way back when it started. it kinda comes with the teritory 'round these parts. I'm not saying "Fuck off and die go back to billy-corgan.com!" what I'm sayin is . . . uh, well, that well-intentioned speech may play on other boards, but not here.

This really isn't about weather or not it's going to go platinum or not (but it'd be nice wouldn't it?). It's just about doing whatever we can to help out album sales to the people that we respect.

Seriously, if you had put all your heart into a new project, only for people to have that "free" option. How pissed off would you be? It'd be one thing if there was a note *******d with the promo that said "spread this shit". But alas, there is no note like that.

Anyone who is going to go to the trouble of downloading a solo album by some guy who played drums for that "rat in a cage" band is going to buy the damn thing anyway.

If you recognize the name, you're buying it.

This is choobie. I've been posting under this different name for a little while now as a little social experiment, and acheived the inevitable. But, you people still haven't learned. I forgot who had this in their sig...it could have been on ams-p, but it's always stuck with me. YOU ARE NOT YOUR FUCKING POST COUNT. I think i'll go back to my choob alias from now on. peace.

My best friend's gay. You use that avatar again, and i come to your house and blow out your kneecaps with a mp-5. That's just plain distasteful. *morphs back into choobie skin* It's good to be back. And in true netphorian spirit, go outside and play hide and go fuck yourself.

I think that if the album is good, people will buy it. If it sucks (like Machina and MSOTS) the album sales will suck. With the proper promotion, plus goodness of the songs, the album will do pretty well, I think. Personally, I haven't heard any of the songs yet myself so I don't really know what to expect.

People know i'm not a b-c.com person. I'm not trying to be high and mighty. But people recognize choobie more than banta. I have no holier than thou image to uphold, so I repeat, in good netphorian spirit, go outside and play hide and go fuck yourself.

I downloaded the album and i'm also going to buy it. However I can't see many people doing the same. It's too bad that record sales for many bands/singers have gone down because of leaked albums on the internet before the actual release.

Getting rid of the threads wont stop anything either.

Like i said, it won't stop anything, but at least we can do our part to help the album sales a little. Now i'll be my own antagonist: What if leaked albums boost album sales? Not likely, but look at how msots sold, then look at the concert turnouts.

I dl'ed the album, I like what I heard, I probably won't buy it but if JC tours in T.O. I'll definitely go see him for sure. Its my way of karmically balancing out the universe. Sure, I'm still a cheap amoral bastard for not buying it, but when he swings by I'll be putting some cash into The Complex's pocket for sure.

Instead of raping and killing jimmy's musical career, I'm simply putting something in its drink, having my way with it while it's passed out, and then calling it back the next day.

Oh you're a poet.

Do you think Billy would be with the band on any of the tour dates?

PM me your MSN screen name so i can drop you a line on there once i sign up. BTW, your band looks kickass, nice tour history with setlists and photos and all!
