Default eye demo

i know this is probly a silly question, but i'm asking it anyway.

does anyone know of/have a copy of the eye demo (mp3 obviously).. i'm asking because i haven't been able to find it on slsk, but i did download the SPVC (vinyl collection) and the first two tracks are "my dhalia" & "sun"* off of the eye demo.... so i'd really like the other 7 tracks.
i'd also like the mp3s to be at least 192 kbps(the tracks i have are 256), but beggars can't be choosers, etc.

so if no one has a copy, just tell me it doesn't exist, so i can shut up about it.
but if someone does have a copy i'd be very appreciative if you could send it to me through slsk/AIM/MSN messenger..... and if you don't wanna cause a ruckus, you could always PM me.

*i just realized that the version of sun that i have isn't the version off of the eye demo, but i didn't feel like retyping the whole post....

seriously.

what's with all of the "PLZ give me this MP3" posts lately?

You would probably find more help over at blamo or some other board. MP3 sourced copies of shows and the like are pretty sparse on the bootlists of the members of Netphoria.

I don't understand all of this gimmie gimmie gimmie. You tried soulseek and it didn't work, so try something else. actually do some work and use the search function we have at the top. browse people's bootlists and send some emails. If you don't have anything to trade, maybe you could get a b+p.

all of you newbs don't seem to understand that most of the shows and demos that are just a click away came from alot of hard dective work, trading, tracking people down - a really consuming time process.

maybe next time for your first post you should contribute something to the board, then start making requests.

wasn't the version of eye played in lost highway slightly different than the one on the soundtrack?

you think i don't know that? and i believe the proper phrase would be "time consuming"... (and what exactly is "dective work"?)
and the (non)word "newb" is meaningless... it's a phrase used by elitist pricks to describe someone who hasn't been on a messageboard as long as they have...

maybe next time for your first post you should contribute something to the board, then start making requests.
what would you like me to do? post the same annoying "newb" questions? come in and start bitching about SP/zwan breaking up? post "hey i'm here and nobody cares"?.. i'm sorry, but i don't need to spend all of my time online arguing with people i don't know over meaningless crap..

in short i ask for help, and, as usual, i get shit.

sometimes i think that theres actually hope for humans... but then i come online and realise that people everywhere are self serving morons, who need to be shot in the fucking skull...

maybe next time someone asks you for something, you could respond with something other than hostility... just a thought.

(as a side note it's refreshing to see that within 5 responses this thread went totally off topic, and turned into an argument over an old movie [all thanks to one idiot seeing the title, not reading the thread at all, and responding] ... another sign that people are morons with short attention spans.)

lemme tell you how this thread should've went

me: someone wanna help me track down the eye demo?
someone who isn't a dickhole: sure hit me up on AIM. here's my s/n: "notadick"
idiot: WOW A DEMO OD A SNDTRK SONG? ROXXOR!!!111
someone who isn't a fucktard: no silly he means a demo tape not a song.

i'm sorry. i've spent too much time on this. thank you for confirming my suspicion that nowhere on the internet is there anyone of any intelligence....

this is netphoria. all responses are going to be cynical or sarcastic.

just telling you how it is, kiddo. look over people's bootlists and send some emails.

i am sorry i made a few spelling + gammar mistakes, it was late. thank you kindly for pointing them out.

if you'll excuse me, I am off to register the nickname "notadick".

I've never seen the Eye demo in any format. spfc.org mentions that there isn't much known about it.

But when you look at that tracklist, I think it's safe to assume all tracks, except Nothing And Everything, come from the Reel Time Studios sessions. You can downloads mp3's (obviously? :erm ) of these sessions on b-c.com.
Nothing And Everything is very likely the same version as on the tape called The Smashing Pumpkins. This version is also on Mashed Potatoes. Mp3's of this can also be found on b-c.com.

in all my years collecting the Pumpkins I, nor any of my collecting mates all over the world and in Chicago, have ever come across the rumoured 'Eye' Demo Tape.
all in all, we concluded this tape did not exist as a public release. there might have been a tape called 'Eye', but this could very well have been culled from the Reel Time Sessions Tape and given this title. Therefore we believe the 'Eye' Demo Tape should not be considered amongst the status like the 'The Smashing Pumpkins' or 'Moon' Demo Tape(s).
The tracks are very likely to be from Reel Time. There simply isn't are very more likely option. So do your math and get the RTS tracks to compile your very own 'Eye' Demo Tape.
On a side note... when I asked Corgan about it, late 2000 in Paris on my question: "Is there an early 1989 demo tape called 'Eye' out there?", he just smiled, frowned and give me the maybe look. So judge for yourself. In all my years of collecting I think I should at least once have seen it pop up, or hear some credible details on this tape, or see scans of both tape and j-card. Since these, to this date still have to surface it's my safest bet it was a homemade Corgan tape with RTS tracks called 'Eye Demo', or a non-existing rumour lost in lore and history.

Well who originally heard of the tape and got it added to spfc? You guys should track down the origin of the info and maybe that person will have something more concrete. I've heard somewhere that it doesn't exist but I forgot where I heard it. I bet Asselin would know.

I have been telling people since 1998 that there is no "Eye Demo". I asked to have it removed from the SPFC for years to no avail.

I only had it listed in the first version of my text discography, because one person I ever spoke to had heard of it and said it had a green cover. I removed it by the next version because I found no corraborating evidence. When the SPFC went live, the guy who did the discography added it despite it not being listed in mine.

Here is the original reference for the Eye demo. That was the same discography that later added an update that there was a limited MCIS in a baby seal skin pouch.

Thanks Dave. Got any opinion or info on the instrumental on MCIS Demos II that sounds like For Martha? Is that an electric version of Wishing You Were? We were discussing it in this thread: http://forums.netphoria.org/showthre...threadid=69318

I've always been of the opinion that it's an electric version of Wishing You Were. Billy wouldn't have had For Martha written in 1994, since his mother hadn't died yet.

just my 2 cents...
i wouldn't go so far as to call WYWH or the The Other Side instrumental with the For Martha-ish chord changes a demo version of For Martha. what we might be seeing here is corgan re-using riffs he had written but never used. when he was writing For Martha for his late mother he might have stumbled across these older riffs, parts, etc. it happens all the time in the creation of music. you come up with a part, can't fit it into what you're working on at the moment, record it for later moments and then... it fits. For Martha as featured on Adore features some elements we recognize in tracks from the MCIS-demos. this doesn't make these tracks a demo to For Martha. but for history's sake, it's a key-element to notice these things, point them out and record them in your archive. and above all, check it out, listen to it and enjoy this insight sneak peak in the process or evolution of a stunning and emotional song.
thus i conclude spfc calls it right by saying For Martha evolved from The Other Side.
