because traditional or some republican interpretation of the 2nd amendment is that ordinary citizens should be able to set up their own militia in case the central government becomes too powerful so they can throw aside the government. i think the main thing is like the concept of freedom i guess. like republicans have the 'moral' or 'traditional' laws like against gay marriage and abortion, but, yeah. they also fear a strong central government so they don't like environmental protection, gun control, or...oh shit i just had a third one but i forget. yeah.

or i guess some people that are pro gun control just say killing animals for food has existed since the beginning of time, or that like you know tim mcveigh says the government shouldn't deny your right to self-defense. what point am i trying to make? oh yeah. and some congressmen are just anti-gun control because of nra lobbies http://www.netphoria.org/wwwboard/rolleyes.gif well also probably because their constituents are anti-gun control too.

no that's really the thing. i mean no it doesn't logically make sense but the main concept is that the central government shouldn't involve themselves in people's lives. and i guess the way it ties in is that this is a *traditional* value and other values republicans have are also *traditional* such as you know. oh yeah affirmative action was the third thing i was trying to think of above. i don't know. but i think republicans would try to draw a distinction between like 'morality' laws like abortion is murder i guess and heh. 'guns don't kill people. PEOPLE kill people' or something. you know. i mean if there weren't any laws this would be anarchy and there's a reason why the other term for republicans is 'conservative'. it's sort of a reactiona gainst societal change lemme see...

The great American myth, and they've got half the nation invested in it.

But fuck, if Republicans are evil, I wanna be one. I'm just not going to vote for some idiot like Bush.

I guess I sort of get it now. Thanks. Sorry for being a smart ass, it's what I do. "Progressive" can be seen as a threat spreading immorality when the morals at hand are based upon traditional Christian thought? Maybe? So anything in that vein is decried.
