Well there can be no trading today since today Tom is holding the stupid raffle. I only had enough tickets for one chance and I didn't win shit. Looks like i'll be doing a lot of fishing today and i'll have a lot of fish to sell to Tom tomorrow.

i'd like to give a big "word" to fishing in the ocean. when i had something to work towards i was filling my basement with knifejaws and snappers each night. now that my debt is almost 800,000 i've got to hit the ocean tonight, seeing as i have no school tomorrow, and get myself at least halfway there.

i've only seen the 15k fish when it was raining. there's also big fish in the stream when it rains (i think there are 2 kinds that go for 10k each, but i've only caught 1 type).

and has anybody ever seen fish in a pond? cause i haven't.

It's a little late in the year for fish in the ponds from what I hear. I think they're only there in spring and early summer. This game has so many time/date related quirks that it's amazing.

i'm getting way too into this game, for most of friday and saturday it was raining in my town and i was actually surprised when i left my house (the real one) and it wasn't raining.

I've never seen the 15k fish but in my second town ,where my boyfriend lives ,I've caught one of the 10k fish twice in one day ,& then again the next day ,but I haven't seen it since. That was in a stream. In the town where I live ,I haven't seen anything more than a Barred Knifejaw.

Also ,there are fish in our ponds occasionally. Mostly Pale Chubs & Goldfish. My town's rivers are CRAWLING with salmon ,thank god.

Thanks for the idea of filling up my basement with fish & then fishing some more! That'll come in way handy. Before I discovered fishing in the ocean I used to load my inventory with cherries ,go to the next town ,sell them for 500 each ,load up on pears ,go to my town ,sell THEM for 500 each ,etc.

OH YEAH.

Sometimes when you catch fish like Freshwater Goby or Cherry Salmon or stuff like that ,if you talk to people in town enough they'll try & buy it off you. Usually they'll make some sort of ridiculous offer like they'll want to give you some shitty shirt off their back ,but I've had Biff the hippo pay me 2200 Bells for a measly Freshwater Goby!!

No you don't need to connect your GameCube to the internet. AC uses a clever password system that lets you exchange items with a specific person.

nah, you don't need the modem or bba. you've no doubt seen those long awkward codes we've been giving each other in this thread. these contain the info for the items we're trading, and are coded so that only a player with the right name and town name can use them.

how it works is you go to tom nook (the local merchant, you'll get to know him long before trading becomes an issue) and ask him to either "say code" or "hear code." one asks you to enter a player's name and townname, and then asks you to choose an item from your inventory (which you lose), after you enter this info it gives you one of those codes to give to the player with which you are trading. the other option allows you to enter a code and the item being traded will appear in your inventory.

Some people have compared it to a N64 game called Harvest Moon. It has some RPG elements (but keep in mind that I hate RPGs and i love this game). There are some similarities to the Sims i guess. But really it's a unique genre unto itself. Here is a pretty good review that explains the game a little better:
