Secret Window I didn't really think was that good.

Forrest Gump is one of my favorite movies.

I just saw I, Robot and found it better than the last two Matrix movies. Maybe not better but I enjoyed it a lot more.

I just rewatched Gangs of NY today and man is it awesome.

"I will paint Paradise Square with his blood. TWO COATS! Then I will festoon my bedchambers with his guts."

"And from what part of that excrementicious isle were your forebears spawned?"

"Those potato eaters are taking our jobs, like them over there!"

"It's not the ballots that win elections! It's the counters! Keep counting!"

Maybe I'm partial to it because my favorite period of history is 19th century america, especially the dirty low-down bits. It's also has a lot to do with the fact that it stirs my Irish-American pride.

That line makes my heart sing. That whole opening is fantastic.

"MAY THE CHRISTIAN GOD GUIDE MY HAND AGAINST YOUR ROMAN POPERY!"
"Prepare to recieve the true lord!"

It's funny how it took a brilliant Italian-American to make a definitive Irish-American Pride film.

GoNY is way too inconsistent to be a great film. There are good parts I'd watch over and over, and then there are really, really God-awful parts I never want to watch again. And the acting isn't all that great, either, apart from the obvious exception.

I thought it was all good except for Cameron Diaz. Jim Broadbent is fucking great.

"The appearance of the law must be upheld at all times. Especially while it's being broken."

I know there are legitimate complaints with the movie, the love story is pretty sappy. It's not Scorsese's best, not by a long shot, but like I said before the specific historical setting and the subject matter really make me love it. I would use particular scenes as a teaching aid.

Yeah, Broadbent is pretty good, too. I wasn't fond of Leo, though, and Cameron Diaz was damn near unforgivable (though oddly hot with the red hair).

Anyway, I can definitely see why someone would really like the movie. There's a lot of good stuff there, and for the history/heritage geek it's doubly cool.

Thank you.

That movie has the most memorable movie lines ever.

"I think she's the saddest girl to ever hold a martini"
"Every passing minute is another chance to turn it all around"
"I'll tell you in another life, when we're both cats"
"You will never know the exquisite pain of the guy, who goes home alone."
"You're rich and women love you, and I'm from Ohio and I'm drunk."
"Just remember, the sweet is never as sweet without the sour, and I know the sour. "
