The new Soulwax sounds pretty cool. Of course, more electronica/disco than ever.

i also still have to hear radio 4, is it as good as their debut?

I like it. They've gone into a more disco-y direction.

If you're knocking it, don't. He listed a very strong album - you'd be surprised.

right now, my top 10 would probably be, in some order:

madvillainy
joy shapes
rejoicing in the hands
sonic nurse
the well of memory
burned mind
seven swans
now here is nowhere
sung tongs
the blue cathedral

i need to give a lot of stuff more time, though.

This is why 2004 sucks. Are you just listing whatever came out this year? Could all of these really be the "best" of 2004? No. The problem is this year seems to be sorely lacking in diversity. It's either folk and folk hybrids or discopunk dance-y rock scenester shit.

Have there been any really good electronica albums to come out at all this year? Because if so, I don't think I've heard them. I like Team Doyobi and Fennesz and Emotional Joystick enough, but none of them are as good as, say, One Word Extinguisher or Up in Flames (if you count that as electronica) or that Jan Jelinek record.

Everything I've heard on that list is good, and so what? It helps out people like me who are looking for crap to download. This isn't an official best of thread so everyone please just post as much damn stuff as you can. Thank you.

yeah, i heard the DAT politics for the first time the other day and it's all right. capitol k is bleh, and i didn't even make it one spin through the mouse on mars records because i hated it so much, which has only happened with one other record this year (mum).

i heard a track off the new shitmat today, and i thought it was pretty cool. kinda jason forrest-y, except with ragga influences instead of cock rock and disco.

i like Shitmat but the album is kind of uneven. sometimes it's bangin' and sometimes it's pretty dorky.
