Arrow Note about the U.S. Supreme Court justices...

One of the big issues in the 2000 election, if I remember correctly, was that a number of U.S. Supreme Court justices were due to step down and the winner of the 2000 election would likely be the one that would appoint new ones. Four years later, none have retired and a new presidential election looms.

PREDICTION: The justices who are about due for retirement are waiting until Bush leaves office. If Kerry wins the election, they will retire. If Bush wins, they will wait another four years for the next election. Read: They want a Democrat president to appoint their replacements, or at least someone besides Bush.

Discuss.

Uh, I don't think Republican Justices want Kerry to pick their replacements.

it's not that republican justices so much want kerry to appoint as much as they don't want bush to have any more control - i think their continued service is an apology for their decisions in 2000's election. they may be conservative, but they've seen enough to know that bush (and his billions hemorrhaged out of our economy for a mess war) isn't conservative so much as he is a crazy spender who takes every thing too far.

Good point. I did not initially think of that.

We'll just have to wait and see, I guess.

100% agree. Bush is as conservative as Rose O'Donell is straight.
