wow, pitchfork has no sense of humor? who would have thought!
"# Hard n' Phirm: "Rodeohead" Rodeohead! The name implies Radiohead, but also a rodeo. Those are the two things you can expect of this song, upon glancing at the title, and they are both delivered in cornicopious quantities. It's entry-level Weird Als gallivanting through a bluegrass polka jam session; that's the fucking essence of "Rodeohead." It's a cheeky barnyard romp through some ridiculous number of your fake plastic favorites-- for example, remember "Everything in Its Right Place"? It used to be really warm, but also icy, like Vaporub. But the important thing is that, courtesy of "comedians" Chris Hardwick and Mike Phirman, you can now square dance to a couple seconds of it. Good one, fellas; the ironing is delicious! If I'd been poised to expect the unexpected upon queueing up this song, that's exactly what I'd have received! I would rank this somewhere between the UMass Marching Band rendition of "Paranoid Android" and the string tribute to Staind in terms of necessity. Yee-fuckin'-haw. [Joshua Sharp; June 9th, 2004]" (he gave it 1 star) here's the song if some poor soul hasn't heard it - http://www.hardnphirm.com/rodeohead.html |

that's what happens when you get bored and have no weed, kiddos. you find yourself on pitchfork, wondering where your life went wrong.

yeah pitchfork can be quite retarded. i don't like their tone at all, and the reviews are far too long and often only half of the review is actually about the album.
and yes, this was lame. rodeohead was completely hilarious. and very clever btw. |

Not to mention the fact that they all write very poorly but think they write so eloquently.

here's some letters that the group wrote. i found them on the ateaseweb.com forums. all the radiohead fans absolutely love it!
Hey, (censored). Thanks, I'm really glad you like it! It's absolutely meant for hardcore fans (like us). I'd love to do another some day, but first we're going to try some other stuff. Radiohead has been a favorite for a long time, but after really learning each song up close... it's frightening how good they really are. We tried to preserve as much of the original music as possible, but still yuk it up. (I don't think anyone yet has realized that there's a third song layered in at 1:45. Very very subtle. Did you catch it?) Feel free to pass it along to anyone you like. We're really hoping that it gets all the way to the boys themselves. Thanks again! Cheers, Mike of HnP and an excerpt: we put the song up Wednesday afternoon, and as of Friday morning it had been downloaded about 17,000 times. That's gotta be worth one wee mention in one magazine, one airplay somewhere, right? Well, whatever happens, Phirm and I consider everything at this point a bonus. You guys have responded so well, so much better than we had ever imagined that anything else is just gravy. Sweet sweet happiness gravy. You'll never know how much we truly appreciate you super-nice words. |
