And how do I know if I have one?

If you don't know what it is, you likely don't have one.

SCSI is a high-speed device interface for connecting hard drives, CD drives, and all sorts of other devices. It's notably more expensive than IDE but performs better and is more reliable in general.

You can connect more devices with it. 15, I think.

It used to be faster at one time but IDE has evolved quite a lot over the past several years. IDE can be just as good as SCSI now a days.

Yes and no. SCSI will always be faster and more reliable just because it processes directly instead of using processor resources.

It also revs like an airplane when it's broken, which kicks ass.

SCSI is for geeks. IDE is essentially as fast now and much less of a headache to deal with.

SCSI is fast. IDE trys to catch up. but it still behind. SCSI cost bank. but you can have a lot more scsi devices on your box then you can with IDE. stupid controler cards can make you have more IDE but i don't trust the cards to be honest. But hey if you got the money to blow and you have massive ammount of video editing to do. Do it, with RAID zero, like my friend v00j00 did with his dual xeon 2ghz
