Exclamation Goth people, do i like them?

I'm scared of dying (hmm, most people got over that when they were 3 years old.)
we are real outcasts, no one accepts us for who we are! (hmm, tell that to the fat, bald guy who's my neighbour.his biggest interest is archiving and people are ashamed to even be seen near him. that's really tragic, stop complaining.)

Goth : I like to express my indivduality with my clothes!
Me : That's because you're too stupid to stick out in any other way.

Goth : I'm really different to other people!
Me : bah, you're just trying to be different like everyone else.

I hate that neo-goth notion of "afraid of dying, black clothes and purple, love/death, suicide that will never happen". It's funny how the early 80's goth movement (post joy division, bauhaus) spreaded because it was more politicaly correct/comercialy viable than using pure opression based on neo-nazi symbology like their "father" bands did (not as a political statement, but has a way to enhance the power of their words) due to the disturbed times they lived (late 70's uk). It's more easy to handle darkness related to the unknown (fantasy, black/purple schemes) than real despair with disturbed lyrics by people who had nothing to lose and unfortunatly were much more closer to death. I better shut up. Don't take it personally, I'm a big My Dying Bride fan

The best joy division songs are the ones were you can sense how much Ian curtis wants to be free of his depression. Like "transmission" or "disorder"...great music. If you make a movie parallell, unknown pleasures is like taxi driver, while pornography and faith are bad horror movies, you can just laugh at it.

90% of the people in the goth scene do it as a joke. where have you been? if some conservative looking guy walked up to me and asked me why I was goth, I'd say something like "my internal world is so dark and grey, I just wait for the impending doom to overshadow the world before I go to my early grave"...or some shit like that. It's funny. I'm goth because I like the fashion, I like the music, I like to dance. It's that simple. The way my step sister can walk into G&G and buy a pair of blue jeans and a mint green sweater and she leaves feeling pretty...well, when I walk into religious sex or Old Navy (guilty pleasure) and buy a black bondage skirt some fishnets and a black sweater... I feel pretty. Now, If my step sister and I traded outfits, neither one of us would feel attractive nor would we be comfortable. For the record, I find that "goth" people are some of the nicest people on the planet. I went to a club a few months ago and ended up getting drunk to the point of vomiting...man, who the hell took care of me? some fucking dude in a skirt with dreadlocks. if i was at my step sisters club, i would have gotten laughed at.

ah, yes, but i think it's more usual that goths are shallow. I've read it in a very respected magazine, can't remember the name of it or anything like that. It's a really intelligent scientist who states that "goths are generally very shallow people", but i don't remember his name either. It's swedish, so don't bother looking into it mmmkay?

I just think it's funny to take seriously at all past the teenage years. I dunno. Putting time and effort into a lifestyle JOKE, why not be real. The joke's not funny. It's old. Eh, why am I responding. I really don't care.

Thank you. It seems it takes a high schooler to care about being goth and to care about others being goth. Whoopie shit.

I don't personally care about other people being in the scene...but I love the scene because I connect with it. I love the people and the music... but it's not what my life revolves around. I suppose part of being "counter-culture" is finding people whom you generally get along with and sticking to them. That's how I am with my scene. What I meant about it being a joke, is that people outside of the scene seem to think that we're these morbid creatures who worship our cats and slit our wrists for fun. We laugh at that. We're normal people...

Yeah, right on dude. Goth people suck. What are you guys thinking with all your black clothes and mopiness? Get over yourselves and stop listening to The Cure all day. Hey, guess what? Bauhaus and Sisters of Mercy suck, too. Fuck you, gothtards.

p.s. Goth chicks are ugly too

i dunno. i think i'm turning more goth with each passing day. but like. early 80's goth. i have this old copy of an issue of i-d magazine from 1983 (when it was still a stapled together street zine) and almost everyone in it is all old-school goth and looks amazing. they all seem to love the birthday party and teasing their hair. fucking great.

That's cool. Not that you drank too much, but that a stranger took care of you. And just out of curiosity, have you ever been to a club that your sister goes to?

i went with her a few times. that's the cool part about having a step sister you only see when you're both home from college... when all else fails, you can club together. she's been to my clubs, i've been to hers. even *she* agrees that my clubs have nicer people. hah...and she is on a cheerleading scholarship, and her boyfriend is a football player. she drives a silver jetta. that says a lot.

and about that stranger... he was so fucking nice. he was rubbing my back and keeping my hair out of my face. the entire time saying "it's ok beautiful, it's happened to the best of us". then when i was done, and i was all sweaty and crying, he used his sleve to wipe my tears and then he gave me some mentos, a sprite and a cigarette and cuddled with me on a sofa. aw <3

It's something you come to terms with in high school. Some people like to dress in drag. Some like to collect porn magazines from the 80's. Some, god knows why, listen to ICP. And then there are the people who like to dress goth. Wow, that's profound. Try as I might, I could never really analyze the true mentality of people by the way they dressed. Some of the cheerleaders were actually somewhat smart. Some of the kids who looked nerdy were actually the biggest fucking partiers in school. That little squeaky mormon kid who talks about jesus in science class is literally a crackhead. Some of the goths actually weren't depressed and gloomy and not all of them wrote poetry about the suicide they dreamt about but would never perform. HOLY FUCKING SHIT, WOW. That fucker who said the shit about books and their covers were somewhat right. I think I just zinged myself.
