8 Mile beauty Brittany Murphy has confirmed that she did enjoy a romance with rap superstar Eminem on the set of their film. The Clueless actress, who plays the girlfriend of Eminem's character Jimmy Smith Jr., told of how she 'had' the "Real Slim Shady" star. However, she was keen to protect her former lover, real name Marshall Mathers Iii, and would not elaborate on the details of the affair. She says, "I'm just grateful to have had him in any way, shape or form, in my life. I want to respect the one ounce of privacy he has left and the one ounce I'm losing."

which probably means he fucked her in the ass or something. every time you think she's cute, picture Em cock in her mouth and that'll change that.

I enjoyed it quite a bit. I thought that the characterizations were VERY well fleshed out, b/c essentially Curtis Hanson does his best there. It was a character-based movie with enough of a plot to seem conventional to the average movie-goer. The battles were decent, but I personally enjoyed just watching things happen on their own. I also loved the way the cinematography (esp. handheld) gave a unique mood to the story.

As for the ending, I knew that others were going to hate it, but I actually think that it gave the film some level of credibility that the typical cliche wouldn't have.

Great performances all around, although I certainly liked some considerably more than others. Curtis Hanson has yet again affirmed my faith in him. I don't know if Eminem is a good actor or it was just the role, but guess what? I don't care; he kicked ass in this film and that's all I'm judging here.

One of the best films this year - ignore all the speculation, personal peccadilloes, and other stupid reasons you've been hearing: go see it.

We tried to go see it on Friday, but all shows were sold out except for the 12:45 am one. There were huge, huge lines everywhere we went. It was insane.

I always think I'm going to have a heart attack or something in those situations. I mean, my hands get sweaty and my heart starts pumping and I'm like, "okay, I'm going to have to kill you now"....anyway. Yeah if you told them to shut up, and they saw that you were alone and stuff, they probably would have been scared enough to do what you say.

I know. That's certainly not why I went to see it. But it was just fucking awful, probably one of the five worst movies I've ever seen. There's a line, and when you cross that line, the entertainment factor of really bad movies stops, and numbness of mind steps in.

I don't like rap, and thoroughly enjoyed the movie. Essentially, what it does, it does well. -- the director seems to have spent a lot of time figuring out what he could and couldn't do with the movie. Eminem, as has been touched on before, pretty much sticks to rapping and looking intense, which are two things he does pretty well. His line readings weren't so terrible, but more importantly none of the scenes really banked on believable delivery. The cinematography was quite good in a number of ways, particularly in playing off of Em's tension. I think it was also a pretty good choice to concentrate on the career side of things -- once again, it helps play to Mathers' strengths, and keeps the movie from getting loaded down with "instances which parallel urban decay with the breakdown of the american family" and the like. Entertaining, not preachy.

Also worth mentioning, this movie has one of the best sex scenes in recent memory. It's quick, it's dirty, it's in the loading dock of a stamping plant, and it's one of the best acted and directed scenes I've ever seen. Any realer and I would actually have been grossed out -- if Brittany Murphy is spreading rumors about sleeping with Eminem, I wonder if they might not have just gone for it to get the scene right. It's been done before. The voyeuristic camerawork is the icing on the cake.

*shamelessly bumps this topic up from 3 pages back*

Yes I would have to agree.

Did anyone notice stuff that was in the trailer that was not in the movie? I hate it when that happens.

I think it is all a big marketing scheme so Eminem can get girls. As Henry rollins once said "they fall for that sensitive shit all the time"

i thought it was overall really good. the more serious themes were handled well, and the acting was great. kim basinger was SO good. the directing was great. eminem acted really well, but i'll be impressed when i see him act as someone other than himself.

my main beef, like ryan's post, was the script. it was so dumbed down with unnecessary cliches like that other white guy (the only other white male in the whole film, too) being this overly white wannabe gangsta who likes the beastie boys. and eminem almost always being straight faced. that scene where he tells his buddies they keep talking shit about getting famous and not acting upon it was after-school-special-worthy. and lines like "are you asking me out on a date, jimmy smith jr?" it was one of those films where you could kinda tell the actors were doing their best with the script they had.

although i loved the ending. and how it ended with a whole ton of unresolved plot. that was great. i liked how it wasn't a giant epic on his entire life but just a few days in it. it was a really simple and inspiring film. kinda like rocky. but it's definitley not movie of the year or oscar material like it's been hyped up to be.

it's definitley as enjoyable whether or not you like rap.
in fact, i think the overall message of the film was that being black has nothing to do with your skin color.

i never saw crossroads but once i heard the plot... i wished i had been there opening night to laugh and heckle.... if i'm not mistaken isn't something along the lines of...
1. brittney goes on roadtrip to find mother she's lost contact with.
2. friend A goes on roadtrip to find increasingly distant and unresponsive boyfriend
3. friend B goes on roadtrip to find the father of the baby she's carryiing.
and then ends with...
1. brittney's mom doesn't want her.
2. friend A's bf/fiance isn't interested anymore because
3. he fucked friend B and is the father of her child.

i don't know.. but i think it would have been fun as shit to be sitting in a theater of high-school and middle-school girls making coments like "hahaha her mom should've just aborted her" and "oh, i get it, he fucked her friend" really loudly, but then, i'm an ass so, maybe not.
