Default mics

I'm going to look at some mics later today. They will be used for recording piano, violin, and perhaps some perscussion. Any helpful advice on what to look for name wise and characteristic wise would be helpful.

Yes i know i posted this twice

The spelling might be different, but are you still gonna slay avian chaos?

Condensers are nice, but you need to watch them with percussion. Actually, I'll find you an article

http://www.harmony-central.com/Features/CondenserMic/

You'll have to look around for brand recommendations though, I'm not really in a position to pimp any

If you're on a budget (and you SHOULD be, you fiend), the best one to go for is the Sure SM57. This mic is for everything. Vocals, percussion, strings, whatthefuckever. And it won't break the band. Or anything else. And it's much more durable than most tube mics. Enjoy.

First, thanks for the responces as always. And yes, avian chaos (weren't those some of the idiotically easy bird creatures on Mt Woe?) falls quickly beneath my Rainbow sword/prism specs combo. 1.4k dmg 70 % of the time oh yeah.

Replace SM57 with SM58.

Yeah, that's looking like the way to go for me... the SM58S, if I can ever motivate little drummer boy to get his ass in gear.
