Angry Ants everywhere!!

I came home from the Tool concert to find this one section of the kitchen counter FLOODED with ants!! My roommate and I can't figure out where the hell they came from. They aren't coming from the window areas. And it is just this one isolated spot. And they weren't coming from out of the cabinets where the food is. It's like a nest of ants exploded on our kitchen counter. And our kitchen is really clean too.

Ewww.. We had the same problem this summer. I walked into our bathroom one afternoon to find an army of them on the floor. There were hundreds. We used an indoor insecticide to kill them. And then the next day, they creeped into our kitchen (that shares a wall with that bathroom). I don't know how the hell they get in. But instead of calling an exterminator (because they are TOO expensive), we went to Homo Depot and bought Amdro granules and sprinkled them outside around the perimeter of the house. And we haven't seen any ants since.

But if you don't have any insecticide or spray to kill them with right now, dishwashing detergent mixed with water will do the job. Then you can vacuum them up.

Ants fucking suck.

I had a little bit of a can of bug spray left and killed most of them with that. But I don't want more and I don't want them to come back. I'm calling the landlord first thing in the morning.

*makes a mental note of the dishwashing detergent and Amdro granules*

I just went to the 24 hour CVS and got some more bug spray and those ant trap thingys. Everytime my skin itches, I think that there is an ant crawling on me.

I had an ant infestation in my apartment this summer, they were coming in from my closet by crawling under the wall in the next apartment. They were EVERYWHERE, in my bed, on my desk, in my drawers .

By the ant traps that don't kill the ants immediately, but rather kill the whole colony including the queen by bringing poison back to the colony. Also, keep a can of RAID handy...

I have these ENORMOUS bugs in my apartment and I have no clue what they are. They're light brown, between 1 and 2 inches long, and have about a zillion legs. They run REALLY fast so they're hard to kill, appear only one at a time, and when you smoosh them with a shoe, they still twitch 5 minutes later. Impossible to get rid of. Does anyone know what the fuck those things are, and how to kill them? I live in the basement. :'(

more than likely they're centipedes.

I've killed a couple of those house centipedes! (I wasn't sure what they were before.) Yuck. I think the occasional centipede and the newly found ants are because we live on the ground floor...easy access. We're thinking the ants are coming from the electrical outlet. Is that possible? It seems to be the only possible option besides from within the wall some other place (a place we can't see). I reiterate, yuck.

When I lived in the ghetto in Washington State, EVERYONE had ant infestation problems--the fucking town was built on a giant ant nest!

Most people used insect bombs in their houses, but they'd only work for a little while before the ants came back. You never really could get rid of them completely.

I haven't spotted an ant since early August in my apartment. Mine, like I said, were coming in from next door by way of my closet.

What kind of products can I buy to send those centipedes to Uranus? Chasing them with shoes is annoying, and I hate shaking out my blankets every night before I get into bed. Fucking ghetto basement apartment.

Do landlords have to pay for exterminators? Can I deduct it from my rent?
