Don't you expect him to find other people to fall in love with? I don't understand what is "shocking" about it. People date, people break up, people get married, people get divorced, people kill themselves, people get put in jail, people succeed, people fail, people wage war, people give up, people are persistent, people are good, people are bad. I don't understand why people get so shocked by things that are part of everyday life.

Because maybe you don't think about that person for a long time, and when you do hear about them again, it's a little hard to think about them with someone else and a completely different life that doesn't involve you, especially if THEY broke up with YOU. No one's saying they can't handle it and want to kill themselves... there's just a little shock, a little sadness of a lost love, then you get on with life. It's not as big of a deal as you're making it.

If it's a big enough deal to make a thread about it, then it's a big enough deal for other people like Mark and me to come in and state our opinions. That's what makes this board go 'round, m'dear. Relax.

Exactly. Apparently, he got engaged in September and I just now heard about it. Myself and all of my friends (who were once friends with him) are just plain shocked. He is the last person in the world that you would imagine engaged. And it also made me stop and wonder just how long they had been dating...if was for more than a year, then that would explain a lot about what happened between me and him. I don't really care at all that he is engaged...it's just weird...and it caught me off guard.

It's always fun to hear one ex say that he's having a kid, and then 2 months later have another ex say he's having a kid...and one still wants to get back together with you...:erm

i found out my ex was engaged to her ex before me via reading her email. i didn't get depresed but it made me very contemplative. it felt weirder when we talked a few months later and she "broke" me the news.

i just found out via reading her email that she is pregnant now. it just seems so weird that she's married and pregnant and stuff.

i log into her account. dude, she never changed the password and I use to check it for her so she knows that at least at one time i had access to it. that said, she would be shocked to learn that more than 4 years and 2 long-term relationships later, I still log into her account and read her email.

hey what can i say, the bitch broke my heart.

It's really just pathetic and proof of what a boring existence I must lead. I don't think of it as freaky. I'm trying to put into words why it's not freaky but I can't come up with anything.

For example, my best girl friend stillr reads my ex's emails as well. When I told her several years ago that I check my ex's email for her I gave my friend the password. She still has the password and still checks it. I don't think of that as freaky either, just pathetic.

Really it's not about that. I'm nosy and pathetic. I would check your email if I knew the password. I would check my roommate's email if I knew the password. Or when I started this job, the old intern forgot to empty her deleted emails folder, so I read a year's worth of her emails. It was great. What a ho.

actually, i'll contribute...

i dunno if she's actually married or not, yet...but i had an ex who called up my best friend about 2 or so years ago to let him (me) know that she got engaged. i hadn't talked to her for 2, maybe 3 years before that call. along w/ the wonderful news, she asked my buddy if i was engaged/married yet. :erm

i see no problem w/ it at all, i broke up with her for a reason...now someone else can deal w/ her shit.
