i got to a salon. I've home waxed before, but just the bikini line when i was too lazy to make an appointment at the salon.
when i did that, i used those strips that already have the wax on them.

Do your pores ever bleed when you do it yourself? That's the only reason I don't... I tried it once, with bad results.

it truly depends on the colour of you hair. darker hair and red hair are more coarse so it tends to hurt a little more. as well, red heads have a lower pain tolerance since the skin is a lot more fair.

i did it myself long after i had started going to the salon, so there wasn't any bleeding but the first time i went to the salon, i had a bit of bruising.

it looked like someone gave me a hickey down there but it was really my shocked skin saying to me, "why did you just do that to me!!!"

Mine's red. I've tried waxing myself but I just couldn't do it after the first strip. I was in a LOT of pain. Shaving works as long as I do the proper after care.

do you shave with the grain first and then against it? or just go against the grain all the way?

against all the way. The grain isnt going the same way all over usually, so, sometimes not I guess.

Doesn't the hair have to be a certain length for the wax to work? and wouldn't that leave those regrowing periods that you are trying to avoid anyway?
