hmmm, i really haven't figured that out yet either but i think it has something to do with making others' lives a little bit better and it also has something to do with making yourself content and happy

Well, it doesnt' matter, I don't think that's the meaning of life, but I mean, looking at it from a biological perspective I believe that to be the meaning of life.

ALSO, I just realized the question of this thread was "WHY is life worth living?" And not "what is the meaning of life?"

Um, life may be worth living for the unforseeable future of pleasant moments? I wrote a journal entry about living life and that people (or maybe it's just me) create this whole reward system. They would make up some sort of reward for themselves in order to get through something, like a week of school or work. Or how religions like Christianity promise some kind of reward at the end for living a morally upstanding life.

And then lots of times I just think life isn't worth living because it gets so unbearably stagnant.

i think some of the eastern religions have the right idea that life is cyclical, not linear. life repeats and feeds into itself, and even though the human race progresses technologically, there is no real ultimate destination in our lives than to make the best of them while we live them, by whatever means possible.

it's about experience, growth, and the ability to help others grow and experience.
i think this thread would make more sense if it was subjective. No one can really say why any life is worth living other than their own. it's like asking "what really matters" to a group of people with varying experiences.

besides, i don't even know if you actually exist. metaphysically there's no proof. the only thing i'm sure of at any moment is my own consciousness. even that i'm not entirely sure of.

You don't really understand Rand. You can help others as much as you want but only after everything you need (happiness & security) are taken care of.
