no

ask anyone (with integrity anyway) who paints, plays music, writes, directs, etc. i can almost assure you they want to pass the torch just as much as i do

yes it's an ego thing
yes it does involve self-gain
but what doesn't
every story ever written involves someone wanting something
life is no different

there are far fewer satisfactions in life than knowing that someone really appreciates what you do

As an artist I agree with you; but I think it's only half the picture, it's the occupational side of things. As a writer, I'd like people to read / view my stuff, but I also want to love someone and be loved in return.

The greatest thing you'll ever learn Is
just to love and be loved in return.

love can be wherever you want it to be, though, and in whatever you want

if you're talking about boy/girl/whatever combination love, then yeah. there's no way you can avoid that in life. no way whatsoever

that's why i don't consider it the main goal to pursue

so many people go though life with no idea whatsoever what TURE love is...

not that I'm trying to moot your point, I'm just saying...

Exactly. I think to some extent that falls into the 'inspiration' thing failure said, because love can turn into a form of inspiration, but I do value love above my inspiration on other artists - both are important, but if I die with only love, I think I'll still be quite happy.

thus my original comment about 99% of humanity fading into obscurity

does it make more sense now?

I don't consider it a goal to pursue, I see it as a reality I will eventually experience. I don't actively search for love,... I'm just waiting for it.

p.s: you don't need true love to be happy.

obviously the 99% thing was an overexaggeration

but the point still stands

yes and no. you aren't being consistent in what you are saying. at least, it's not coming across that way to me.

i understand what you mean to be saying, but, you throw in these little bits and peices that make me think otherwise..

it doesn't matter, really. everyone lives and dies for thier own reasons.

perhapse the key word we are looking for isn't love or inspiration, but passion.

then why have it precede over inspiration? it comes and will happen and is everywhere

you said you're waiting for it, so there's no reason to let the thought of some impending rush of emotions weigh you down

that's why inspiration is better

"Life isn't a mystery to be solved, but a reality to be experienced."

I think you can swap love in for life as well.

from my standpoint, passion and inspiration are synonymous

I have to wait for inspiration, too. I'm creative, but only when it hits me, it's not like a valve I just turn off and on. At least, not my really good stuff. I can just write whatever, but it won't be amazing. If, however, I'm feeling inspired, I much likelier to produce something very interesting.

I think so, anyhow.

doesn't it all boil down to the feelings/emotion one derives from all of those elements?

Perhaps life is worth living for free will; the ability to think that love is more important than inspiration, or vice versa. Maybe the choice is the point.

plain in simply, the purpose of life is to ROCK.

just soak it all up while you're here, because when you're gone, nothing that you did in life will mean anything. whether you did something great or not won't have any meaning because you won't be around to appreciate it.

just APPRECIATE what you have while you have it. be inspired.

try to live each day like it's your last. (i know very cliche, but it is a cliche for a good reason.)

I don't know if it is or if it isn't but I just know that without music life would be unbearable.
