Memphis is OK. Just really depends on the area of town that you live in. You'd probably want to stay out of south memphis, southeast memphis.

Downtown memphis is a great place to chillax on the weekends. and the memphis in may festival is always great. BBQ fest is fucking sweet

Germantown, midtown and bartlett are good areas to live in. oh and so is cordova.
