i left baby aidan at home w/ my mom when i saw big fish on friday. amazing movie, i cried. he's recently learned how to shriek so loudly and high-pitched that it hurts your ears, so i wasn't even going to ATTEMPT to take him.
however, as far as taking babies to restaurants and church - i don't see any reason why they can't go. restaurants are places of conversation. if a baby is crying, most parents will take them outside or somewhere else. church is a place where some people go EVERY week (or more). i think it's inconsiderate to ask them to not attend their place of worship for fear of their baby making some noise. actually, most churches i've been to have a separate room for people w/ babies and stuff.
aidan went to church once.

I wonder if her ass looks like a face, since the opposite is clearly true.

Recently several theaters have started to have special showings of movies for parents who want to bring their children. Check your local theaters and you may be able to find one. I know they do it here in Chicago. Babies can cry all they want....because everyone there has a crying baby. Plus your baby gets to socialize.

As a non-parent, I can't imagine a worse two hours.

Cool

Babies are fun sucking shit machines. Obviously its your own opinion and decision to have children but honestly I can't see why anyone would. You can't reason with a child, they cost a fucking assload of money, and most of all they're not usually greatful. They shouldn't be expected to be greatful though, simply because any amount of anything they'd have to be greatful for would be offset by the horrible torture of living!
Fuck that shit, I'll keep my time and money while spending time with the people that make me worth being me.

restaurants are places of conversation, true. but, in my experience, it's not true that 'most' parents will take them outside if they are screaming or misbehaving. parents become used to conversing 'over' their children's voices. and babies and children think that screaming is ok. so, no babies in restaurants. i know, i know - kids eat too. but parents don't notice that their kids are actually louder than they think they are, because they get used to it.

i understand your point about church. what about the others that attend their place of worship fully expecting peace and quiet? i think babies should stay at home until there is a kiddie worship program in their church.

yes! with the exception of a few children who have matured faster than their peers. but never leave it up to the parent to decide whether or not his or her child is more mature than the other children. because they are biased - all parents think their kid is the most brilliant of the bunch.

I think we should just put everyone who has children under 16 in Texas and Alaska and let the rest of the country be child free.

Yeah, they have that here too. It's only once a month, but it's cool, because they give out loads of promo samples from Gerber.

Wink

Kids should go to Chuckie Cheese-like restaurants or fast food.

I hate kids at the grocery store, where all they do is yell at the top of their lungs and run around with little supervision. I want to kick one of them in the face just to show them that they aren't immortal, after all.

Here's hoping you never cross paths with her at a grocery store:

hahahaha! i feel terrible laughing about that thought - but it's not the actual visual so much as the 'showing them that they aren't immortal' that made me laugh.

I did something similar... except I yelled "Get a babysitter!" and everyone looked at me like I was satan, even though I *know* that's what they were all thinking.
