i dunno. i kind of like the idea that if life gets to be too unbearable theres always that big red button you can push to abort. its an ironic comfort knowing its there

well then its ironic that some people would view it as a comfort since suicide is generally not a comforting notion. i originally said it was ironic because most people wouldnt associate suicide with something comforting, even though i may. thus, it is ironic

Hmm. I dunno how else I can explain this to you... I thought I could handle it, but I couldn't.

And I didn't know that they could extend me longer than my enlistment until after I went to basic.

Right, so my retort to your two points are as follows:

If you thought you could handle it but could not, that is a failure to gauge your own tolerance. Noone to blame but yourself.

As far as knowing if they could extend your enlistment, you could have asked. I know if I was signing away 5 years of my life one of the first questions I would have asked would have been "can you keep me longer then my 5 years?" Noone to blame but yourself.

My only problem with all of this is that you bitch and whine like it wasn't your fault, its the Army's fault. You should accept responsibility, understand you fucked up, grit your teeth and bare it and learn to inform yourself more in the future concerning life changing decisions. On that note, I'm going home.
