yeah, totally, its melodrama and it is selfish because once you're dead you're DEAD but you leave too many people behind who have to clean up after your dead ass. Killing yourself is the ultimate hissy fit.

It is not the person's fault who died that the government enforces such strict burial laws. What about people who have famlies that treat them like shit? Or who has no friends? I mean seriously......You can't make a blanket statement like "Suicide is selfish" because it varies so much from case to case. What about assisted suicide where a family agrees its time to let the person go? What about when a person is forced to live in pain? Isn't that selfish? To many ifs ands or buts to sum up suicide in one sentence. You people are so quick to assume there is only one answer to any proposed question. Grow up.

whats sad though is that many people who are driven to suicide honestly believe that no one gives a shit about them or would care less if they died. this percieved lack of social support can of course contribute to a persons wanting to take their life in the first place. in that respect, it's not a selfish act because it's their reality.

making the decision to end your life and stop from existing with no idea where things go after that is anything but weak, it's actually a pretty ballsy move. many people chicken out of suicide, moron. whats weak is not being able to admit you have a problem that you need help/support for in order to make your life better and just doing nothing when you're experiencing extreme distress.

This reminds me of when my dads co worker tried to shoot himself. He chickened out at the last second and blew off half his face.
He is still alive, but pretty fucked up

One of my sisters close friends dad killed himself last week. He shot himself in the throat and never died. So He put another bullet in the chamber and shot himself in the neck again to ease the pain of bleeding to death. THAT takes fucking detication and need. To comit suicide is not weak or selfish, its a fucking tempory emotional disorder, or in most cases a long lasting disorder. I know lots of people who dispute this wouldn't have the fucking balls to kill themselves anyway. Its selfish of course from a person looking in the fishbowl. To a person who is that far down the spiral, what selfishness?

selfish or not, you still have to take care of number 1, right? no one else will do it for you. i fully admit that i don't have the guts to kill myself. but i've thought about it a lot. i would be devastated if someone i know committed suicide, but i should be allowed to if i want to. double-standard, i know.

well, i guess it's just a matter of belief. my brother just killed himself and i believe he's in heaven. and where in the bible does it say that if you kill yourself you're going to hell? i believe if you kill yourself you're mentally ill. it's a mental sickness. if someone dies of cancer are they going to hell? they were sick.

I don't know exactly where, I don't remember... but I'm pretty positive it says it.

I have to disagree with the "mental illness" thing to an extent. People nowadays use the term "mental illness" to get away with murder. Do you think that woman in Texas that killed all her kids was "mentally ill" so she shouldn't be punished?
