Where are Boston Bruins on this poll?

I'm not even a Bruins fan but I think they've had enough success to at least make the list if Toronto makes the list.

Edmonton and the Islanders had one great run apiece and other than that they have generally spared hockey fans to death.

The Bruins have 5 cups although obvioulsy they've had more time to win them. But just for having Bobby Orr they deserve to be in your poll.

The Habs and the Wings are the only plausible choices.

I'm voting for the Habs.

Your forgetting that the success Boston/Mtl/Toronto had was when there were very few teams in the NHL. THe two teams that deserve to be on top in this poll are the Oil and the Islanders.

Exactly. I wanted to say that, but I'm always accused of being an argumentative thug on here so I just decided to criticize one aspect of the poll not two.

How can it not be the Habs if we are talking about franchise? Haven't they won more than 20 cups.

The Isles and Oilers of 80s may have been the two best teams ever but there is absolutely no way they are the best hockey team ever considering that if you throw out 1980-88 those are two of the lousiest hockey franchises period.

The Bruins have at least been consisently good over an 80-year period, although they have few cups to show for it.

the Islanders should not be on that list. They had a few good years, about 20 years ago. Take them off, put the Bruins there, at least for consistency. In terms of pure stats, Montreal (sadly) would be it. Though I fucking hate Montreal, its in my blood Bruins 4-3 over Edmonton tonight.

I think he's talking about dynasties, in which case its pretty obvious it the the Canadiens from the 70's. 5 in a row, and one year they only lost 8 games. pretty impressive. the oilers woulda matched that it if it weren't for steve smiths own goal in 85. and if peter pocklington wasn't such a fuckwit who knows how long they coulda gone on for.

my ex's uncle was a player for the Washington Capitals.

He was a nice little Canuck but now he's out because he busted his leg up too much

I like hockey. It's such a nice alternative to FOOZBALL.

i hate hockey but the wings should have more votes.

maybe it's just because im from detroit but from the gordie howe era to now, they've always been at least ok when not great. statisticly i think the canadians have the most cups though so eh?

but talking about dynasties, the red wings have thave that too, in the 50's they were untouchable.

people should consider how well Montreal have done since Edmonton and NYI have been a part of the league

1984-90 Edmonton Oilers
5 Stanley Cups (1984, 1985, 1987, 1988, 1990)
Memorable Players: Grant Fuhr, Wayne Gretzky, Mark Messier, Glenn Anderson, Charlie Huddy, Jari Kurri, Kevin Lowe, Andy Moog, Bill Ranford, Paul Coffey, Lee Fogolin, Randy Gregg, Pat Hughes, Dave Hunter, Dave Lumley, Kevin McClelland, Willy Lindstrom, Dave Semenko, Esa Tikkanen, Mike Krushelnyski, Jeff Beaukeboom, Kelly Buchberger, Craig MacTavish, Steve Smith, Craig Simpson, Marty McSorley, Kent Nilsson, Craig Muni, Joe Murphy, Martin Gelinas, Adam Graves, Mark Lamb, Petr Klima, Dave Brown.

The coaches for the five titles were Glen Sather and John Muckler. Sather also served as general manager for all of those seasons.

1980-84 New York Islanders
4 Stanley Cups (1980, 1981, 1982, 1983)
Memorable Players: Mike Bossy, Bryan Trottier, Clark Gillies, Billy Smith, Glenn Resch, Denis Potvin, Bob Bourne, Gord Lane, Butch Goring, Anders Kallur, Dave Langevin, Ken Morrow, Wayne Merrick, Duane Sutter, Brent Sutter, Bob Nystrom, John Tonelli, Stefan Persson, Lorne Henning, Garry Howatt, Billy Carroll, Rollie Melanson.

The Islanders won their four straight in only 78 playoff games (60 wins and only 18 losses). The team lost only 88 regular season games in those four years. The coach for all four Cups was Al Arbour and the manager was Bill Torrey.

These are definitely my two picks.
