Smile radiohead camden

a really lovely show that i was too exhausted to enjoy as much as i should have.

http://forums.netphoria.org/wwwboard/icons/icon14.gif for:
- thom's "helllllo lawn!" and of course, the spastic dancing

- the illadelphia skyline
- fake plastic trees! swoon
- the hot diggety dog truck: "probably the best hot dog in the world," or something
- getting out of creepy camden unscathed

a big fat fuck you for:
- lawn seats
- drunk boys who hollered during exit music and fake plastic trees
- the tubby nerd who was doing the peter murphy dance/ lonely raver dance in front of us for half the show
- my cousin who (to my "what the fuck are you doing here" in the parking lot after the show) was all "oh yeah i didnt even know about this til today, i was in red bank and ran into my friend and he was all yeah i have this extra ticket and i was all okay and no, we weren't on the lawn, we were in the 4th row or something."

01 the gloaming
02 there there
03 sit down. stand up
04 where i end and you begin
05 exit music
06 backdrifts

What a great show! I was there too - in the reserved seating but not pit . Thanks for posting the setlist, I had half of it written down but my pen ran out of ink. Did you have as bad as a time I did getting out of the parking lot as I did? Nobody moved for like an hour after the show, it was practially 1am by the time we left the lot

You're lucky, we got there late and all that was available was the huge lot. I wouldn't even call it a lot, it was basically a gravel pit. They had no one directing anybody out, it was a nightmare.

I was sort of surprised they played Nice Dream but the Gloaming as an opener was better than I thought it would be.

I agree it was quite the awesome show, which I felt was full of surprises. to those stuck in a bad parking situation, were you in the lot that was in a kind grassy/gravel filled field right by the river. if so, I feel your pain. we sat in one spot for 45 minutes waiting for the line of cars to start moving. after that time, one of the people in our group (six in all in my car) noticed that the other side of the lot was moving a little so we drove over to that side and got back to pennsylvania within a half an hour after being glared at by this girl asking me "not to cut her off" after she let everyone in camden in front of her. I think that show was definately on par with the first time I saw them (8.17.01).

06 pyramid song
07 paranoid android
08 a wolf at the door
09 sail to the moon

Thumbs up:
A Wolf at the Door
There There
Absolutely gorgeous weather
Thom's new schtick where he makes faces into the camera during You and Whose Army. It really is quite funny.
Sing-alongs
The band's great light show

Thumbs down:
Terrible, terrible traffic after the show was over. The ampitheater's basically in the middle of downtown suburbia, and there's only 2 ways out. Add that to the fact that thousands of people parked for free in an office building or the so-close-you-can-walk mall and it was sad.
The people who kept throwing Thom off during We Suck Young Blood by clapping out of time

what are you talking about?
a) according to the merriweather site, you don't have to pay additional for parking because the cost of parking is '*******d' in the ticket, so if you parked at the mall, you paid to park somewhere you could have parked for free.
there's not sufficient parking for that venue.
we should demand our parking fee from the ticket to be refunded.

b) traffic on the way _IN_ was horrible. i live < 150 miles from the venue and it took me over _5_ hours to get there. i got there during the middle of 'there there'. actually i pulled up by the place during pyramid song, but because of the parking situation i didn't get inside for 5 more songs... i know people that ended up getting there even later. it's a horrible location for a venue and it's a horrible venue.

c) the sound was not so great. and i hear the view from a lot of places wasn't so good. the whole place seemed really cramped.. and there was no air flow.

d) what's with a big place like that not having BATHROOMS?

e) what's with a show like that starting at 630? i mean.. i go to a lot of shows that don't start until after this one had ended (940pm). it was nice to get back home at only 120am, but i was a bit digusted that i drove over 8 hours total for only 1 hour of music.

Red face

I keep trying to think of what songs I really want to hear...and I'm realizing that it doesn't really matter.

Any setlist they throw together will be just fine.

About 30 more hours. woo
