Reviews from REAL fans in 2000...not Nethporians who hate the pumpkins
What Do You Think of MACHINA?
March 2000 Pauline - 7/6/00 Age: 22 Location: Canada I love machina the machines of god!!! it's an awsome cd!!! but all their cd's are awsome so i obviously expected this one to be just as awsome as the others!!! Justin Reeves - 21/5/00 [email protected] Age: 24 Location: Lindon, Utah This album is great! I did find a couple of songs difficult to get used to. But after I saw them live. all worries were put to rest. Long live Billy Corgan, best song writer in the modern ages. Rodrigo Vázquez - 4/5/00 [email protected] Age: 18 Location: Mexico City I think that disc is one of the best with ADORE and MELLON COLLIE. I'm a good fan since some years ago and this group is the best. Well,Im wait for other disc for buy it and enjoy it. 14. Trevor Doll - 8/5/00 [email protected] Age: 18 Location: IN It is a great album Lindsay - 2/5/00 [email protected] Age: 19 Location: California Machina has turned out to be one of my favorite pumpkins album of all time. It took a few days to get used to it, no more crying guitars... but I knew the words in 3 days flat. I love all the other pumpkins albums as well, but seeing Billy happy makes me happy.. and with album you see how happy he is with his life at this moment. Salena - 2/5/00 [email protected] Age: 19 Location: CO I think it's an amazing album. It's now one of my favorites. The songs are beautiful and were well done. I enjoy listening to it. Billy has done it again! Emily - 17/4/00 [email protected] Age: 28 Location: Hell I love it. I'm enjoying all the implied and not-so-implied symbolism that I haven't figured out. Amanda Flesher - 10/4/00 [email protected] Age: 19 Location: Ohio I love Machina/the machines of God! It is one of my favorite albums and the promotion of the album gave me the opportunity to meet the band, an experience I'll never forget! Drok - 26/3/00 [email protected] Age: 20 Location: Australia Awesome. it's hard, it's relaxing it's everything you want in music. my new favourite album. daz - 25/3/00 [email protected] Age: 19 Location: London, England I think that the lyrics are very emotive and thought provoking, there is a sadness about'Machina' but also a vibrant positive feel of new beginnings'Age'is a masterpiece. Alepanda - 25/3/00 [email protected] Age: 22 Location: Santiago, Chile I think that machina is very "easy listening" with adore i was kinda surprised but machina, i was expecting this. I love it. Alexia Iscariot - 6/3/00 [email protected] Age: 18 Location: Dallas Machina represents an end its an album that says goodbye: goodbye to the past, goodbye to mistakes, goodbye to fears. The album also revolves around central themes of God, the music industry, and Billy's relationship to the fans and Yelena. Lyrically the songs are open ended stand inside your love could have been written about Corgan's love of his fans or the love of his girlfriend. The everlasting gaze could have been written about the fickle media or God. It's this ambiguity that shows that in love or disappointment, the feelings are the same. Phonically, the album would be a brilliant one to end the Pumpkins career with (if they indeed choose to break up) It microcosms everything the band has been doing for the past decade. It shows the lessons they learned from adore (shimmering guitars) the fuzz they learned on Siamese Dream, the drums that were instrumental to Mellon Collie and the lyrical ambuiguity of Gish. For me, this album is heartbreaking. The sadness! of the lyrics and the notes has never been so acute. When I listen to it, I am reminded of things ending-my childhood, the band. The album feels alone, isolated, beautiful. Its the quintessential pumpkins album, and it reminds me of how tragic it will be to lose this band, whether in 10 years or one year. I don't think even Radiohead could write beautiful tragedy like this. |

please refrain from contradicting yourself when attempting to present an argument. it damages your credibility.
