Yeah, I'm sure Phil Jackson wants that load to bear too. Kobe, Shaq, and Gary? You're asking for a meltdown.

"Officially." They can talk to agents, however.

Dude, the Lakers were lucky to get as far as they did riding the back of no one but Shaq and Kobe. I figure the Lakers will be improved next season, but adding Peyton and Howard won't help them at all.

Chemistry is important. And the only thing that keeps the Lakers going is that they win. I don't know how he does it but Phil Jackson somehow keeps egos from flaring. He was the only coach after Rodman turned into a nutter in 91 or so that could keep him in check and make him useful.

Bullshit. It’s the Bucks’ title to lose. Quote me on that shit.

portland's roster is full of idiots.

shaq & kobe have certainly done better since Phil took over, but were either of them caught having sex with minors, caught dealing weed or getting into fist fights during practice?

you can't compare any team to portland.

Um, no? They had a better bench, were more healthy, and had more drive?

The Bucks will be pretty damn good. Juwon Howard, if signed, will single-handidly ruin the Lakers season. I pray the do sign him, then.

All we need is to resign Payton, acquire Tim Duncan, trade Sam Cassell to Dallas straight up for Michael Finley, trade the 8 pick straight up to Denver for the 3 pick where we take Mello, and then we’re set - although we’d still be stuck with Anthony Mason at power forward.

Payton is an upgrade from Fisher.

Brian Shaw leaves, and backup PG is now Fisher. Not as tall as Ron Harper..but solid as a backup PG.

Howard will replace Horry, who's nearing the end.

George gained a lot of experience last season, and will come in as a starter...and is much improved over his first 3 seasons (which they won the 3 titles during).

They'll likely draft a PF and have him sit & learn. David West, baby shaq or someone. Surely this rookie can contribute what John Sally or A.C. Green brought to the Lakers, no?

Rick Fox isn't going anywhere. He'll likely be out for most of the season.

Rice, Rider, Richmond didn't play enough to be mentioned here.

i'm in love with your posts.

see, here you're stepping all over your own feet. first you say payton & howard will have little impact on the lakers...and now you say another team signing howard will single-handedly ruin their season. make up your mind and stick to that angle, k?

Little impact on a spare team = ruining any potential.

I'm surprised Ridnour went as far in the draft as he did. Anything short of the fifth pick and I would have took him. Maciej Lampe should have went earlier too, he should have never left the first round.

Also any one ever hear of Slavko Vranes? he's 7'6" and i thought he was supposed to be in the draft, but then i didn't hear anything about him. I thought it was weird that there wasn't a big hype over a guy so tall.

Kobe is going to stay in LA. Kidd will stay in New Jersey and Duncan will stay in San Antonio.

The lakers are crumbling and The spurs won't be able to ride Duncan all the way. The east is gong to rise again. the best teams in the league next year are going to be Sacramento, Dallas, New Jersey and Detroit and oddly enough all of those teams are amazingly well rounded. Without Jordan dominating every game he's involved in, it's taking a team to be successful again. Nearly Every team has a superstar on it now.

By the way, Detroit has lots of cap room too. Also Joe Dumars is a genius at putting this team together. He's going to build a legacy.

For you Chicago people, you deserve to suck for a long time to make up for the time you had Jordan. Don't whine about it.

There's a guy called Kirk Penney, who grew up very close to me, and used to play basketball for a local school who is set to go sometime in the 2nd round

Hope he does well ... funny stuff though - as good as he was back in high school he was always a complete and utter dickhead

agreed, that was an idiotic pick. Then again hasn't everything that touched the bulls franchise in the past 4 years turned to shit?

yeah I'm from nz

I knew a fair few guys who played basketball at that level, and not all of them were knobrashes ... I just remember Kirk bieng one hellova smarmy drunken fuck at some of the high school parties that I went to. Takes me back a bit.

I hope he does well though - he'd be only the second NZ player to play in that league - and for all his personality shortcomings I do know he worked very hard to get where he is today. That much I can respect.
