But out of the drugs she talked about, this seemed to be the most destructive. She talked about studies in rats. They were given relatively small doses of E over a short time and researches saw that the serotonin levels went down. They tested for like 6 years after the initial doses and saw they the levels never rose at all, permanently lower than normal rates. They’re pretty sure that it acts the same way in humans.
pretty sure huh? if you give a rat 1/8 of its body weight in E, that would be like giving a human 15-20 pounds of it which yeah that would probably do some damage. in a normal e pill there is about 100mg of mdma. ecstasy is not physically addictive like cocaine, crystal meth, heroin, nicotine. so to say it is the most destructive is assanine. how many people have overdosed on e, lost all of their money and completely destroyed their lives and bodies with ecstasy compared to cocaine, meth, heroin?

ummm, thanks Mr. Scientist, you should meet with them to discuss their errors in their calculations. They probably left that whole rat vs. human body weight out of their math.

IF IT IS HARMFUL TO RATS THAT MEANS NOTHING ABOUT HUMANS.

You have a very powerful argument. Apparantly the entire scientific community has been completely wrong for over a hundred years.

New revelations you have opened me up to for humankind:
Cigarettes: good for you
Cocaine: not addictive
Mazes: hard
Rat Poison: tasty

they should stop testing new drugs on rats. I mean, what the fuck, they're fucking rats, not people. I mean, I don't get it. So they want to cure cancer in rats and not people? Science has to stop trying to cure all of the damn rats' problems and start looking into drugs for humans.

I don't think we should let rats smoke anymore until they figure out how to roll their own.

throw me some studies that are on humans then. they shove obscene amounts of drugs in rats and when something bad happens they say LOOK IT DESTROYS YOUR BODY

im not saying its good for you, but in moderation like most things the positive aspects far outwheigh the negative

First of all, I was saying the same thing Buzz was only in less words. The fact that they gave rats a shitload of drugs and said "hey, its bad for you, look at those permanent results!" is stupid. Buzz explained it, the fact that its like giving a human 20 pound of ecstasy, of course there's going to be some permanent damage. Only a moron would take that much ecstasy.

I see how it could permanently deplete the levels of seretonin in your brain if you take 2 pills every weekend, but I'm talking about taking 1-2 pills every year. Your seretonin regenerates itself if given time.

If you don't know anything about it, at least admit that instead of claiming I'm an idiot and a slut. Grow up.

It's good to see that Netphoria has so many scientists on the forum. Hey where's Ihaman in this thread? He has a Ph.D. in drugs... er... University of Mescaline? Something like that.

I see tons of dumb chicks here on ecstacy. They dance around to any music that is playing, including when there is no music playing. "WOOOO!" is also a common noise which resounds from their obnoxious bobbing heads.

I don't see how that drug would be any fun.

You people kill me. Where did you find the dosage levels that they gave to the rats? I don't think you did, so stop claiming that they gave the equivalent of 20lbs of e to the rats. I'm sure that the scientists could have realized and fixed that problem. Look I can.

E(miligrams of MDMA in a normal tablate) Xmg
----------------------------------------------- X -----------------
Normal Human Body Weight Normal Rat Body Wieght

cross multiply that bitch and you got a dosage. Now I'm sure they thought of that too

http://mdma.net/mdma/neurotox.html
A series of experiments administered a low dose range (0, 1.25, 2.5 and 5 mg/kg) of (+/-)-3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA, 'Ecstasy') to rats and assessed them in a variety of standard tests of anxiety. These tests *******d the emergence and elevated plus-maze tests, social interaction, cat odor avoidance and footshock-induced ultrasonic vocalizations. MDMA increased anxiety-related behaviours in the emergence and elevated plus-maze tests at all dose levels. A 5 mg/kg dose of MDMA also significantly reduced the time spent in close proximity to an anxiogenic cat odor stimulus. The 5 mg/kg dose also significantly reduced footshock-induced ultrasonic vocalizations. In the social interaction test, MDMA decreased aggressive behaviours at all doses tested, while the highest dose (5 mg/kg) also significantly increased the duration of social interaction. These results indicate that MDMA has both anxiogenic and anxiolytic effects depending upon the test situation employed. The facilitation of social interaction produced by MDMA in rats concurs with human experience of MDMA as a uniquely prosocial drug.

"conclusion: If MDMA neurotoxicity in humans is a myth, then it is a myth with a heavy serotonergic component. "

Well I didn't understand how cocaine could be any fun, even after I tried it and millions of people are hooked on that!

Its all personal preference.

Plus a lot of people, kids mainly, don't understand a lot about drugs, so they fuck their lives up.
