help me if you have knowledge about headphones

I'm wondering what sort of pair I should get to use with a discman, and I'm talking about actual headphones, not flimsy ear-buds, although some of those that I've tried out sound very good. I listen to electronic music mainly, and I'll be using them all day when I work, so what is the best to go for....some big Senheisser model? or should those headphones only really be used with hifi stereos?

best headphones ever, depends on what kinda of money you want to spend, though.

Senheisser is big $$, I use headphones for comp games and lans, so really its up to yoo, I think they'd work fine in a discman

if you want to use it with a portable device, be sure to get a model with little resistance (?), the value which is measured in ohms. you shouldn't really get one with more than 250 or 300 ohms, because most portables just don't have enough power on their amps to get good volumes with higher resistance headphones. i bought myself a beyerdynamic dt770 pro ( http://www.beyerdynamic.de/com/product/sheets/d240.php3 ) a while ago and i like it a lot. of course, it's pretty big, but it also shields out 18db of sourrounding noise, so you won't really be bothered by anything that happens around you...that one is about 150 EUR...i can only recommend them

You should be able to get a headphone preamp for use with portables if you want a nice model with high resistance. That's pretty much what you're going to have to do if you want a nice pair of Sens--though, to be fair, I wouldn't expect it to sound amazing through any portable system.

i have a pair of grado sr225's, and they are the most amazing sounding headphones i have ever worn. i can't recommend them enough. they run about $200 a pair new, but it's worth every cent. these headphones are not ideal for portable use though, because they are open-air and you'd disturb the people around you. plus they're ugly.

for portable use i have, and recommend, the Sony Eggo D66SL's, which can be found at audiocubes.com (they're a japanese model). they sound excellent, have a short cord for ideal use with a remote (but also have an extension for regular use) -- so you don't have a huge cord to deal with, very very comfortable, light, etc. they also fold up to be very small so they fit nice in your bag. they're $89 or so which is kinda spendy, but if you really want a great set of portable headphones these are the way to go.

i know audiocubes sells a cheaper eggo model, the d22's... they have a smaller driver, and i can't really speak from experience but i've heard they are good as well - but not as good as the d66sl's.

i forgot to add that the d66sl's are quite well at keeping sound out so that you don't disturb others, and don't hear much outside noise. most noise-cancelling phones suck ass... this model is huge in japan because they all go on the train, and these models are nice & portable, and keep outside sounds out and don't disturb others..
