What does my future hold?

Okay, now I have to decide on whether to pursue a full-time shit job or get back into school to get a full-time shit job that only a degree can offer. I have previous experience in the, um, recording arts, so that's the most logical thing for me to go to school for. I don't know if that's what I want to do as a career though.

My options are sort of limited. Computers are a bad career move, the music business is dying, and majoring in English isn't going to get me anywhere. I'm thinking about maybe becoming a librarian. That seems like something that's adaptable and steady (books aren't dying like CDs are).

Grrr. When it comes down to it, I don't really want to do anything but keep the debtor wolves from the door. I'm so close to finishing a music production degree (probably only a semester and a half with Gen Eds). I'm sure it's a somehow useful degree, and it'll probably be easier to go to school now that I'm in the city and not commuting from a suburb every morning/evening.

majoring in English isn't that bad of an idea. that's what I was going to do originally; now i'm going to major in zoology I think. But majoring in English is a good introduction to Law School... You can be a lawyer, teacher, professor, writer, editor, publisher... It's a nice major.

English has nothing to do with law school, unless you're talking about technical writing.

Anyway Mason, go back to college. You know, I've been out of school for a semester now and I feel grown up and done. I don't want to work in food service all my life, I still have dreams and shit. Sure they won't be realized but at least it'll be more interesting then making omlettes.

?? I know plenty of people who have majored in English and then transferred into law school with that degree.

Okay, I've just offically made an appointment to visit MCTC and see about finishing my engeneering training in their Sound Arts program. It looks a lot better than the one I was attending, and I think I'll be able to go to school without having a nervous breakdown this time.

I've never heard of anyone "transferring" into law school, but that's beside the point. Point is, knowing a whole lot about Faulkner and the history of the dramatic narrative isn't going to help much when when you go to law school.

yeah i'm pretty sure you knew what i meant by "transferring." should i have said "graduating into" or "accomplishing the task of an undergraduate degree in English and then attempting a go at..." ? just b/c it won't be the most helpful major doesn't mean people don't do it. i'm sure you need to have a certain number of hours in certain law classes regardless.

Good move ... it's hard work but if your into it, and your passionate etc then you should finish your training.

When I did mine, there were times when I felt pretty shattered - 14 hrs straight in the studio and things still weren't anywhere near coming together, acoustics lectures the next day, rent due and hadn't had time to work, no food ... blargh!

It's all starting to pay off though. Now, looking back, I don't regret it one bit.
