Working out can also actually reduce your breast size and strengthen the muscles that support them.

So here's your answer: the girls say get the operation because they are jealous of your lucious cans.

The guys say not to, because they want to touch said lucious cans.

Okay, not to take sides against my gender, but one of my pet peeves is when girls who have never given birth talk about it as if it's an inherent part of being a female which has already been decided for them and of which they already somehow have full knowledge.

Yeah, but what if you end up with a super-muscular back?

Come on people, stop being so weird about this. Obviously women experience a lot more regular, stupid and seemingly pointless pain and discomfort that's directly associated with our gender, and obviously that pisses us off, but that's no reason to start a war. If you determine that getting a reduction is the best thing, that by all means, do that, but if there's any easier or less expensive way to deal with it, you want suggestions, right? Back pain sucks but it's worth waiting a little while and trying other things before you spend a lot of money on a procedure that you're unsure of. Then if you do decide to have it done, you'll feel more assured that you've made the right decision.

No, I'm serious. Aren't they both uterus contractions, just one a much more extreme version of the other?

I'm not claiming I've experienced labor pains, either. But, I was with my sister through about 15 hours of labor on Tuesday.. and if it's a lot (LOT) worse than the hellish cramps I have, then I fear the day I give birth. (Not that I'm not looking forward to it at the same time).

I guess what I meant is that if I'm going to whine about pain associated with being a woman, I'm going to whine about it whether anyone likes it or not, and I don't have to justify that. But a lot of girls seem to try to give themselves a cushion by saying, "Oh, you will never understand what it's like to be female."

Anyone who's in a fair amount of constant discomfort might feel the need to whine, which is okay because you're in pain, not because you're a woman. Women inevitably have to put up with that type of pain more, but a man who suffers from arthritis has just as much of a reason to whine.

I have no reubuttle (?) for the whine argument, either. Yeah, I whine sometimes.

Oh yeah. I'm going to be so drugged up when I have a kid, I probably won't remember it.

I don't particularly want an epidural b/c i plan on breastfeeding as soon as the baby is born and the drugs can interfere with that. That's not saying i WON'T have one, i have no idea how much pain i'll be able to take.
by the way, as far as handling pain goes, men can handle more pain in a short period of time, and women can handle pain for a longer duration of time.... studies have shown.

How could they possibly even quantify pain.

Jesus Christ, I leave this morning and this topic has 7 replies, come back and it's three pages.

First off - I didn't think I was whining... I was simply asking for input on whether anyone had actually gotten this done or not/experiences etc. If however, I was whining, I appoligize.

I'm not even touching the whole sex battle.

Also, I'm not going to just jump up and go schedule the surgery... if there are other things that can rectify the problem, then of course I would opt for them. However, being about 2 cup sizes over what I would deam normal and proportional to the rest of me... I don't think much else would exactly do the trick.

hmm. I dunno. I was wanting to ask my doctor's opinion before anything was even remotely decided. This was moreso pondering than anything else.

And no, pics aren't going to be posted.

I never said anything about women...in fact, many of my female friends/coworkers handle their cramps without whining at all. With some of them, you can tell they're in major pain but they say nothing and they go on with their day despite it. Very impressive, very brave, very admirable, to say the least.

I was just saying that if you know a lot of guys that whine for hours after taking a nutshot, you know a lot of pu-, uh, wimps. Most guys I know can handle such unholy pain without whining about it. I dunno, maybe it's the stoic northern european farmer/miner in our Upper Midwestern heritage. Sorry if you thought I was slagging on the fairer gender.

My hairdresser got one and she looks and feels much better. I might get one when I lose some more weight, I've already lost most of it and my boobs are still too big. I thought they were supposed to get smaller like the rest of me but they aren't cooperating. Anyway, I say go for it!

well couldn't you take one male, one female (i guess the same body type / height / weight / muscle mass / age) and give them each electric shocks? the male could probably handle the higher voltage being shocked better, but wouldn't be able to handle a slightly lower voltage being shocked continuously for thirty seconds. however, a woman might have a worse response to the inital shock of the first voltage, but presumably would be able to handle the thirty-second shock better.

Don't think I'm trying to dissuade you, nor is it any of my business at all... but my Aunt has two daughters (aged 2 and 1), and I was there right after both were born.

She had no epidural with the first baby.

After the second one was born, I walked into the room and the first thing she said to me was, "Kenzie, ...epidural."

Just thought you might benefit from this antecdote.

-*-

Anyhoo, when it comes to girls and bitching about pain... I don't know. I'm sure there are some girls who will milk the "that time of the month" routine, but I haven't seen a whole lot of it. Personally, I rarely get pre/menstrual symptoms. So besides the fact that it's annoying, I don't have much to complain about. But I do know some girls, also, that go through a lot of ouchies when it's that time.

I still stand pro-reduction, however. Yes, there are other measures you can take - but why should breast reduction be considered a last resort?

*sigh* Yes but the conception of pain is different for each individual.

There are a LOT of great resources on the internet regarding plastic surgery procedures. I don't know anyone who has had a breast reduction...but, from what I have read and what I have seen on A Personal Story (the plastic surgery show on TLC), breast reduction is one the easiest procedures and has one of the most pain-free recoveries. Most plastic surgery consultations range in price from free to $50. So just make an appointment with a plastic surgeon and go in and talk with him/her.

okay well i'm sure if you took enough people and said "when you cannot stand this pain anymore, push the red button" then the results would be telling. or something.
i don't know.

I thought that milk didn't come in for most people until a couple of days after the baby was born. it didn't for my aunt, anyway.

oh but my aunt suggests that you do the paperwork for the epidural even if you don't plan to get one... she didn't plan on one for the 1st kid, but the pain was so bad that she decided tog et it partway through. unfortunately you have to then go through all this paperwork while you're in pain and by the time she got it it was almost too late.
