Default Records for the Week, YEEHA!

I found a good used lp place downtown when I was looking for a job. I haven't bought anything in a while and I had some birthday money with me.

Velvet Underground - 1969: Velvet Underground Live
Kraftwerk - Trans-Europe Express
Chemical Brothers - Dig Your Own Hole

Kind of strange to run into a Chemical Brothers record alongside the other records I found. And I got Nobukazu Takemura - 10th from the new section because it was cheap and I'm kind of sick of not actually owning the albums I listen to a lot.

What happened to strange_one's cd posts, you broke?

Dig Your Own Hole is such an awesome album. A personal top 10 favorite non-sp CD of mine.

Oh, I got Tabula Rasa by Arvo Pärt. Nice stuff. I think you all should download 'Fratres for Piano and Cello' It's pretty gorgeous. :x But I don't expect skram to like it. It doesn't have tinny keyboards, drum machines, drony guitars and baritone vocals.

volume 1. the story about his obsession with television and tom verlaine made me laugh. yeah, the vitesse purchase was mostly impulsive but i completely and thoroughly have enjoyed it however many times i've listened to it today.

1)wasn't incredibly impressed by the songs on the broadcast EP. when i saw them, they played a large portion of the new album, all of which was amazing. but the instrumentals on the EP aren't that great, really. the title track is fantastic. still, though. best show ever.
2)i like this a lot
3)my favorite cd of the year, radiohead notwithstanding.

do you have AIM?

I could have just said something very cynical, but there's enough of that going around. Instead, I bought (this is really wierd for me to only buy one CD):

The Dismemberment Plan - Emergency & I

Oh my God this is good (with the exception of You Are Invited), it makes Change look mediocre, and I really like Change. Come on baby, you can tell the cops why.

I feel so silly when it comes to disliking Broadcast. I don't have any explanation as to why I turn off their albums when I listen to them other than the trite Stereolab comparison. Would I even make this connection in my head if there wasn't an obvious real connection. I don't know, fuck me, it's just fucking annoying. Too damn similar for me.
