Manchester United game!
I've just started watching Football.. "FUtbal!", the Worldly one, not the American one.. eh, Soccor. That and Rugby, anyways..
Did anyone see the Manchester United game tonight/last night, against Everton? 0 to 0 .. then, in the very last 5 mins of the game (!!) 3 - 0.. Manchester! Woo. Exciting first game to watch! I shall watch another. This was a Premier game, I'm American.. so, explain it, is that like a Semi-Championship sort of game? p.s. Rugby is badass, has anyone watched a game yet? Makes our American Footballers look like wimps.. tackles every 15 seconds and all they're wearing are shin guards! I am excited about my foray into Worldly sports

i guess you're talking a premiere league game here. that's how it works: all teams in the premiere league play against allothers 4 times i guess, 2 at home, 2 at the other teams place (that's how it is in austria. might be only 2 rounds in england, because there are more teams). for a winning game you get 3 points, for a draw 1 point. at the end of the season the team with the most points is the winner. the n-last teams will drop the second league (also it might be called otherwise) and the n-first teams of the 2nd league will move up to the premiere league. that's about it..if any english people would like to point out some errors...feel free to do so

English Premier League:
20 teams. Each team plays each other twice during a season. 3 points for a win, 1 for a draw, 0 for a loss. At the end of the season, the top 2 teams gain automatic qualification into the UEFA Champions League. The teams in 3rd and 4th can qualify for the Champions League via playoff. The teams in 5th and 6th go to the UEFA Cup. The bottom three teams are relegated to the first division (the Divisions go from the Premier > Div. 1 > Div.2 > Div.3 > Conference and other minor leagues) I know there's at least one Everton fan here. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! |

Actually Italian soccer is going downhill these days. I think spanish and english teams are the best at the moment.

One thing to add is that the first place team in the Premiere League is crowned with the Premiereship.
The way the one post read made it seem like the top two teams were equal since they both go to the UEFA Champions Leauge. Maybe this is obvious that the top team is given distinction, but I really just needed a reason to say: fuck Manchester United. GO LIVERPOOL! |

heh, unless there is a bit of a turn-around, United won't be winning the league this season. Arsenal are practically unstoppable, and they aren't even at full strength.

i missed the game cos i was sitting in Memphis airport waiting for a flight home to england. the match was on telly back at home so i asked my mates to video it for me. all in all, i'd be travelling/waiting around for over 24 hours so i was looking forward to watching the match when i got home....especially as i figured i could do so without knowing the score beforehand. i got skanked in Amsterdam airport tho, when i saw the score got flashed up on one of their news monitors i was pissed off.
we played really well tho. i'm pleased with the performance if not the result, which everyone concerned said was unjust. next up is an easy game against Arsenal...c'mon blue boys!!! |
